One of the springs has broken on my trunk support for my 41 Ford sedan. I have been trying to find a replacement spring or a strut for my sedan but haven’t had much luck as the springs or struts are no longer produced. I seam to remember a kit some time ago that there was a kit to convert the supports to gas struts. Does anyone know where or who makes a gas strut conversion kit? The other questions would be does anyone have a part number on some gas struts that would work to make my own conversion?
Mr 40’s Fat Stuff has the kit you need. I have used his stuff for years. Top notch on the quality too.

If you can even find set of Bob Drake repo struts they are almost the same price. I did have some concern about finding the right struts if I had to make my own kit. I have heard some stories about the trunk lid opening up so fast that you had to get out of the way to open it if the struts weren’t matched to the weight they are lifting. I think these are a good solution. I have a note into them to see if I need additional modification to install these. Thanks everyone for your input.
