I am considering installing these lights in my 40 Ford.

Has any HAMBER used these lights? Feedback or suggestions appreciated. I would also like to use LED tailights.
Also, what directional switch that mounts on the steering column should I buy?

I think they look like you have a broken lens on your headlight which let in water that pooled on the lower edge. But that's just my opinion.

Why not just put a dual filament socket in the parking light and use that as the turn signal?

  7. You could probably find something similar with a halo that flashes instead of the seperate turn signal bit that would look a lot more period.

I have a amber dual filament bulbs and sockets in the parking lights of my 40 standard and they work fine.

No offense, but your car is too nice looking to put those on. My 40 is still 6V and one of the reasons I used fog lights on the front for signals.

Add me to the while functional I am just not a fan of the look club. It's usually not all that hard to change the socket in the park light to a double element socket. Then your turn lights look proper.
The other option to me depending on the build theme of the car is a pair of lights on the bumper that look like fog lights but are turn signals.
This turn signal is on the fender of the 51 1-1/2 ton I have.

I keep thinking that they would look pretty nice all done up right and sitting on the splash apron where a pair of fog lights would normally go.

  11. One issue with the turns in the headlights is the turns are a lot less visible when the headlights are on. There's a reason the OEMs don't do this...

My similar 37 lights have a socket for turn signal bulbs that double as parking lights.
These sockets are positioned below the headlight sockets about 1-2” from the edge of the reflector.
Work well and are visible at night.
    Still look original too

I have been debating these or halo’s as well. On “Effie” my 1948 Ford F1 I am thinking of making a full tube grill and eliminating the factory signals.

  14. You know what they are, but that may not be true for other drivers. You may be underestimating the confusion factor...

My buddy's 34 which uses an old pair of fog lights for turn signals.

You didn't break any rules.. they are just kinda streetroddy-ish....

  17. Before the street rod crowd got them by 2 or 3 decades (maybe 4) you could get a turn signal kit from JC Whittney that placed an amber bulb inside your existing non-seal beam light. They are not as modern as many think. very very old idea.

I have never used them although I did one have a very old motorcycle light with the same basic setup being used as a "park" light. It worked OK.

OK let me back up and regroup. We are talking about a little bulb inside your non-seal beam headlight correct?

I am on my second Anglia build. I do not like the headlights mounted on the tops of the fenders, nor do I like free standing turn signals on this particular body.
So I plan to recess the headlights like we did on my son's Anglia and use the headlights with integral turn signals to keep the front end cleaner.

I have these on a car I built. There are amber LED’s in the bottom of the halogen headlights and a little more discreet then the lense being amber. I like them because it’s a cleaner look without having to find a place to hang an extra turn signal light. Don’t remember where I bought them but pretty easy to find. Maybe not for everyone your mileage may vary. 563C24DD-C160-44F3-94D6-5A3F9090480F.jpeg

The idea of using fog lamps as turn signals maybe a good idea but nowadays you need something that large in the rear to get people’s attention.:)

If memory recall didn’t 40’s Dodge truck have cowl lights? I have some hiding as well as Ford cowl lights I could use . 19Fordy that could work for you too. Even on both side panels near the grill ?

I have built in orange turn signal bulbs inside my 32 Ford headlights and it really messes up the light beam. So I want to replace the headlights one of these days. I would use the 40 parking light but you do have to replace the socket and run a wire from both lights back to the turn signal device.

took some pictures. The headlights are causing some glare in the picture but this gives some idea of the view.
Shown are headlights on. Parking lights on. And headlights and turn signal on.

My 1939 Indian Sport Scour is that way. Front park light.

  29. Hard pass, use the parking lights as signals. Also, probably 90% of the people that need to know you are turning are behind you.
