The hood sides with solid blisters would go with the windshield to continue an “aero” theme. Don’t care for the screen idea. Build the hood and as someone said, run it when you feel like it or hang the whole thing from the rafters and go hoodless for a more bare bones hot rod look for a change.
The car came out great, btw.

Maybe a half blister with the back part of it open.

I've decided to get a sheet of aluminum and make one. Or maybe two sheets, and make one good one and one bad one. You know, practice, practice, practice...
It occurred to me that the 'glass one, which must weigh almost 50 pounds, will be a bitch to finish the inside. It's so thick it may be hard to get Dzus springs deep enough to use them, and, if I make an aluminum one, the blisters can be polished, the whole hood could be polished, whatever. And, it'll enhance my skill set. So, there's that.

  6. Sides, they'll keep you warmer in the winter and make them peek around at the engine thru the little hole.

Hiding that Hemi would be like making Linda Vaughn wear a baggy overcoat.

Tried all three versions for my coupe build. No hood: upload_2022-4-29_1-44-2.png

    Top (it did get painted):

And the way I ended up. Liked the looks of the sides on. Didn't appear to run any hotter because of them. Gave us a chuckle when people would peek thru the louvers and try to guess what the engine was, with the majority having no clue. The engine was off set about 1/2 inch and headers were close on passenger side but used some heat reflection tape and it seemed to prevent damage to the paint. A bit skinnier engine than yours, just long.

For yours, I would vote for the cut-out, maybe with a wind deflector lip across the front, tapering along the top and bottom, maybe with a small bead running from the front to the cut-out like the old time marine air vents. Great looking car, going to be awsum.

I know this will be hard to believe flynbrian, but I was dead wrong. Saw the pic below and the blister looks really good.:)

Vindication. ;) And, the color is certainly spot on.

When I read the title I thought "well, of course, no hood sides". But I try to be objective and after seeing the photos I thought "well, of course, hood sides"!

The blisters look great, keep everybody guessing on what is under the hood. The clearance hole lets the world know what you have.

If there was a vote, I would go for blisters. The dark blue roadster looks great. Know yours will look great too what ever way you go.

I wasn't planning on hood sides at all until I hacked a hole in that one and taped in on. Oh. My. God. What a difference it made. Makes the car look complete, and I thought it really flowed with the Hallock windshield. I went to HF yesterday to buy a brake and of course, none in stock. So, waiting...

Is there a chance you could use the side blisters off a 34 on the hood?
