Does anyone remember a '51 Kaiser custom, made into a roadster (not a convertible), in the 1956 Autorama at the Michigan State Fairgrounds? It received the Best in Show award and was built on a '49 Merc chassis with a flathead, by Joe Mooradian and his brother, of Detroit? Joe is looking for any photos of it, and I would like to know more about it and what happened to it. Thanks, John
Thanks 'Mo for getting back so quick. I have forwarded the photo to Joe Mooradian for identification. I tried to tighten up the photo, but still couldn't read the name on the front fender. I think the car was made from a 4 door body originally. I will stay on it. Where was this picture taken? I'm guessing in the SoCal area, but??
Thanks! I think he said it was a 4 door sedan body purchased from the defunct Kaiser plant, and that they made it into a 2 door roadster. It was originally turquoise. Who is the Rikster web site?
Here you go, oldcarman2. This link will take you to Rik Hoving's wonderful Custom Car Archive: http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/ Scroll down to find the Kaiser Custom Cars. Or just follow this link: http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_car_photos/customcars_i_like/kaiser_custom_cars/
Thanks, guys. I did a search here and found a link to Riksters site and the the rest of the Kaiser customs photos. I do not normally spend any time on blogs- life is too short to sit on a computer a lot. Like many things in the garage, for me it is just a tool, not a lifestyle. I am still waiting to hear frm Joe about the photos, will update the blog here. I wish there was more captioning besides a year on them, for some context. The B&W photo is interesting, the car is definitely much modified with Cad-style rear quarters and a cut off windshield.
@oldcarman2, here is a photo of Joe's Kaiser that I came across in the Fred Thomas Collection. A sharp-looking custom for sure! It would have been great to see more of it
