Jive-Bomber submitted a new blog post: Kansas City Car Clubs in 1959 Continue reading the Original Blog Post
I’ve got a buddy down the street that’s an original kcta member I’ll try to show him this in the next few days and see if he remembers any names. He’s got some good photos of the era as well
KC Local and I've gone down the wormhole a couple times researching KC Clubs. I have used Bullet Nose page, kcta, Journal/hamb, kustomrama and others. Throwing it through photoshop now but the jacket right of Slicks top rocker appears to say *Draggin* (*asterisk appears to be some logo). Bottom rocker first word appears to be DIP. When I get some better results I may add photos. Thanks for posting!!
Found this Old thread that has a few references to KC Clubs and great photos of early KCTA. KCTA -[Kansas City timing ***c.]
I'll try to get some of the original book posted up here, it list all the clubs with members cars and a little write up on each. The booklets were reproduced a few years ago (poor quick copy print quality) but show up. There was also a movie that was duplicated to the showing opening day and a few other events, including the Kansas City Sports Car Club running some dirts switchbacks... including someone competing a new caddy! My wife's grandfather is in his mid 90's and worked at Carl's Speed Shop, before OHV became popular, he later bought the Conoco next door where they did some race tuning and his friend, Bill bought the speed shop. Grandfather also went on to own Carl's Tire Centers and is a knowledgeable on the local rod history up till about '57, he even has some good stories about sales visits from Speedy Bill in Nebraska too! I'll see what he turns up with.
Chris, I have an original copy too if you need some pages scanned and posted. I worked with guy who also was part of an early club.
