I had a small 'collection' of '36es in the '50s & '60s. My first (3 window coupe) was bought from older kid Billy Souza, for $15.00. Second one, the '36 (5 window) bought from Billy's cousin Bill Mendoza. Third (and final) one was the '36 tudor slantback, (traded my '46 Coupe for it, after the '46 was stripped and vandalized) Should have kept the Slant and 5 window, but surf called, so moved to Santa Cruz, CA. LOL
So if I he was going to just clean up the frame for the time being and gonna try and drive it does anyone recommend some kind of frame paint that I could put on it for now.
can you see an "LB" , [large bearing], stamped in the block? memory says it is on top, left side, can see it with heads and intake on... lets a guy run '32-'34 stuff on the insert bearing block and look right... IMO it is worth more, if you don't run it...
Stoked for you, always prefered the proportions of the 5W over the 3W, especially when chopped. Good luck with it.
Started pulling front section of floor out. Plan is to replace floor from toe board to right behind seat. Rest of the floor and trunk are in good shape. Also going to attempt to replace the rockers in between the door pillars.
I'm gonna wire wheel everything and get it cleaned up before installing new floor pans. Trying to figure it out as I go.
Keep us posted on what you do with the floors. I need to replace from under the seat to the kick up trunk area on mine (driveshaft tunnel is ok) and want to know how they fit. I wanted to go with a Bradley floor but.....I've been looking at others. I still say that's a great find even with the rust issues, everything is bolted up and lines up. I bought mine in boxes and not everything was from the same car.
Yup I was definitely bummed when I pulled the floor up and seen that section of the frame rotted like that. Seems like the rot is only on top. My thought was to maybe box the frame in that section and repair the top.
Lol nothing about this has been easy so far. Every bolt is rusted together. Best case scenario is the ones that break. I've been very careful cutting the bolts not to cut into the car. Been pretty slow process but absolutely having a great time doing it. My 12 year old boy out in the garage helping through most of it. Me and him are definitely both learning as we go. Kinda cool that not alot of kids get a chance to work on an old car and I'm glad that we are able to.
Cool car, nothing better than a '36 in my opinion. Thanks for the progress pictures, looks like you're making headway. ironandsteele.com
