I have see smaller ones but they here for one carb I might be able to cut one down before i weld one together if that would help. What were you thinking. Thanks Greg 319-310-4155

Hello! I own the foundry which has produced the castings for these surfer scoops. Greg sold the patterns to a couple gentlemen who, from what it sounds like, have ceased doing business and have the original patterns. Greg reached out to me recently to see if I had any extra castings laying around, but unfortunately, I do not. If you or anyone you know of has one you would consider selling back to Greg, he'd like to get one for his collection. You can call Greg at his number or you can call me at my foundry, Kloppenborg Foundry & Fan Co. in Davenport, IA. 563-322-0260 office or my cell# 309-721-5281. We've also replicated other antique car parts in aluminum, br*** and bronze, all sand cast. Hope we can find some scoops!
I wanted a fibergl*** "surfer-style" scoop for the SBC powered FED I'm building. I saw the prices for scoops (aluminum and f-gl***) and thought I could probably do one for a lot less $$. I bought some epoxy fibergl*** resin and hardener, a friend had the f-gl*** cloth and expertise with fibergl***, and I made a shaped foam buck to gl*** over. Well, after hours and hours of fiddling around with every step of the process and then fabricating an adapter to transition from the carb to to the gl*** scoop I wish I had just spent the money to buy a scoop. I still have scabs on the back of my hand from digging and sanding the foam out of the inside of the scoop, but at least I have a scoop that has a nice shape and is of the physical size I wanted. Now you tell me! I suspected something would dissolve it and let it be wiped out, but didn't want to take any chances of messing up after all of the effort. Live and learn I suppose. Lynn
I had an original single four from the 60's then remade the lower half of mine to fit 2 bigger air cleaners and to sit right where I wanted it (like a shaker) on my 41, I ended up using printer paper as a form. Still a pain in the *** !
This IS the "ORIGINAL SURFERS SCOOP" pattern. The guy holding it is Tom Jobe. and it has never left Calif. Since Toms p***ing it is now held in trust with the guy on the left Bob Higginsen. Any aluminum Surfer scoop out there now is a counterfeit/copy made off a original casting
Yes sir. Was casted specifically for the Surfers, by a guy named Baily. He made several for them because some times the blower was sent into orbit.
Chad, we purchased the company from Greg. We never stopped manufacturing the scoop. We put a TON of work into evolving the scoop. Making it a one-piece casting, symmetrical, and consistent thickness throughout. We enjoyed working with you, but moving the business to TN, we had to move to a foundry much closer to us. Check out our website for images of the new one-piece! *****inscoops.com
