I have a 2 bolt Mallory distributor for my 48' 59ab Flathead. When I intall the distributor the coil wire portion of the cap hits the lower pulley. Has anybody turned the cap around 180 degrees and used the original firing order to make this work properly?

Looks like you are trying to bolt the Mallory on upside down.

The vacuum brake should be upwards. The coil wire port should be upwards. There should be a tang on the distributor body that prevents the cap from being put on upside down.

Apparently you can put the distributor on both ways. Thank you for your help.

The vac port won't match the front cover if upside down.
