So I had a few of engines laying around and I start thinking of what a pain in the *** it is to move these around. Since I only have one engine stand, I decided to make my own. First I drove around my neighborhood and decided that all of these shopping carts are a blighting the area. Picked a few of them up. Next I cut the basket off leaving the base and the handle so you can push it around. This works really well for me and it fits V8's as well as 6's. Just be sure to get a large all metal one. PS dont let Vons know
My dad and his circle track buddies used to do this back in the day. I could use a couple of those.. Chris www.mtpturbo.com
Works well for transmissions too...did it once to bolt up my ****** to a fully ***embled engine on a hoist. I just cut the front off the cart and rolled it into place. I do prefer the proper tools, jacks, etc., for the job, but when they're not around (usually because of funds), the MacGyver style ingenuity works for me. BRyan
Shopping cart wheels a pretty tough wheels, I have 2 engine stands built out of trailer hitch receiver square tube stock ,1/4 inch wall . They hold a full hemi 392 with ease & I used shopping cart wheels on both of them , work very well.
