Considering that axle was chrome plated, it could very well be a victim of hydrogen embrittlement of a perfectly strong axle from the chrome plating process...and not "cured" properly.

While that's true, too, there are pictures of failed axles that were not chromed, too.

Certainly not arguing that there aren't some pretty crappy (cast) axles out there...just pointing out that chrome plating can turn a good (forged) axle into a piece of crap:eek:.

There's forged steel axles, and cast steel axles. Both are strong, but forged steel is stronger, and more likely to bend vs. break. And of course chromed axles have a history of occasional failures.

Could you take a picture of how the fender flare looks like with the back door open please?

Splitting hairs.,. . . Do I dare call out damn near every car on the HAMB has radial tires, including the rears on my Chevy ( long story). I know, I know, safety. However we drove for over a hundred years on bias ply.
The Falcon is neat brother, have fun with it

I have no problem with with bias ply tires. I would run them. But I can buy a couple pairs of these for the price of a pair or bias ply.

I was not calling you out @gearsforguts.
For a long time now there seems to be a few guys just itching to jump on anyone or anything that doesn't adhere to their beliefs in what is traditional or what belongs on the HAMB. How about for a change that we keep our opinions to ourself and let the moderators decide what belongs here. Just try to enjoy what others are doing even if it's not your cup of tea.

I didn't take it that way. Yeah the old saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all " doesn't seem to matter around here. Constructive criticism is okay, but people seem to like to be dicks about it.

Some people consider themselves to be the "HAMB police".

I like the Falcon. I like the fact that the owner is doing his own work with a lot less than many on this board have and accomplishing the same thing. He's building a very cool car.
