I'm helping to bring back the Mike Sullivan Fiat Altered pictured here. We are having trouble finding information regarding the Quickchange rear end that was in it. It appears that it was a Halibrand 301 with the H852 side plates in the 12 bolt configuration. What seems to be a unique feature is that the left side plate is spaced out from the center section. Presumably, this was done to accommodate a differential (most likely a locker). The axle tubes are probably shortened Ford V8 trumpets and it looks like floater style axles. We are trying to determine what hubs, brakes and other pieces were used to put this all together. If anyone has better pictures or more information please post it up. This is a real 'Bad Boy' and deserves to be restored as close to original as possible.
Wow I hope we see it some local nostalgia events. Will it be static display, cackle, exhibition runs, or vintage racing?
Generally speaking around that time, Summers Bros was the go to floater setup and near to where Mike lived. Have you tried making contact with Mike??? His son is on FB Jeremy Sullivan
Mike was / is an innovator. He did a lot of his own design and construction work on his cars himself. So I'd bet that there's many things on all of his cars over the years that the parts were..."one-off'" parts and assemblies. He did some work for me 15 or 18 years ago. Some pretty clever stuff. Looks like a fun task, good luck with it. Mike
Mike is in on this, and I hear he is geeked. The guy heading up the restoration is in contact with him and Jeremy. We are at the point where fading memories are entering the picture. They also mentioned Summers Bros. I don't know how much follow up has been done there. I'm just a small cog in this but I want my part to be right. The car is being built with the Cackle Fest in mind but will be fully functional with the ability to do burn outs as needed.

Yes you did. No they didn't! LB your mission, should you decide to accept, it is to find some rear end shots of the Mike Sullivan altered.
If my memory serves me (not all that likely), the car made its mark injected over the blown altereds. Won a bunch that way. Same car(?) later in its history? (I live about 2 blocks from its birth.)
Go for it guys, what an awesome car to recreate, Mikes cars always had the best stance and look, especially with the stars and stripes paint scheme . When I started my topolino build I wanted to clone / tribute the magic muffler (not exact but similar ) but was threatened with legal action. So I built it with a similar stance to Mikes car. Glen

New here enjoying this love old drag cars. I am planning on building a model of the blue and white version.was wondering if you could post pictures of the bare frame. With dimensions. Also how does the body attach to the frame. Is it a 392 or 426 hemi? Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you Brian
Funny this should come up just now. Mike Roth who is doing the restoration on the Sullivan car just contacted me a couple of days ago. He finally found what is believed to be the correct disc brake set-up for the original car. I hope to see those pieces and get them and the mock up QC from him at PRI in December. We can then proceed to get the Quickchange together and have a roller. Will post more info and pics as they become available. Bruce
Looking at pictures of the engine, I don’t see a starter bracket on blower pulley. I assume it uses a stock starter. Is there a battery hidden somewhere? Or is there a place to connect an external battery?
