sorry for the gay rhyme, best I could come up with on short notice- wanted to share a pic of the coupe with my new to me '35 Ford Wires, 750-16/600-16 Firestones, and no fenders! Big changes afoot. Gotta come up with a valance panel to cover the frame a little better, of course more body work on the way, most notably the top and cowl patches ASAP, and windshield.

I'll have to get a close-up of the headlight mounts as well, they came out pretty cool I think.

Hope you like the pic, it's the closest we have to salt flats in Reno! It's more of a chalky dirt flat :p

The 4 banger is just waiting on the Mallory dizzy to bring it back in tune, my points keep jumping out of alignment, needs a new coil and resistor as well. All in due time. I was going to wait for the monthly banger meet, but couldn't wait!

OH YEAH_ still looking for non-V8 center caps, ribs, no ribs, Ford logo, whatever.....

I like that as-is, don't think you need any valance panels or whatever. I can see patching the lower quarter if you can get the paint to match, otherwise leave it. But definitely DON'T chop it!

Right now it has a very early hotrod look. Chopped tops on closed cars came about 10 years later.

thanks all. Yup, with the four banger and hood sides, definitely no plans for chopping. Just wouldn't seem right to me. I think it looks cool chopped, but as it stands, its just exactly what a forties car would have looked like, maybe not so much tire difference with the bigs and littles but you gotta break rank sometimes!

paint matching will be no problem- it's Krylon satin green!

Not sure if I want to go with a chrome grill shell, what do you think?

if you get a chance....can you measure the total height of those rear tires from the ground to the crown....eye it up...and the width of the thread and the total width of the buldged out sidewall as viewed from the top...

im considering some 7.50's for my new roadster...i have 7.00's on the other car but not any 7.50's
    thanks

the cross section as viewed from the top is exactly 7.5", and they stand right at 31". This is at proper PSI (not sure the number, I just aired them up and slowly let it out til it was right  ), where the full width of the tread just contacts the ground, so there is slightly more bulge at the bottom than the top, and if you aired them more you'd get rid of the bulge and have more height, but you'd wear the centers down too much.

    these are 4" rims

wish I brought my camera today, but the tires just look right on these rims, not too much bulge in my opinion. The 600's look perfect, the rears still look great though. A 4.5" rim would be ideal

    thank you for the measurements,
i really like the way they look on your car....looks like some kid got his parents old model-A ...ripped off the fenders....painted it green with a brush (spray can) and put on some "hot rod" wheels and tires...perfect!!!
    keep up the good work

That's a great looking wheel/tire combo. Gives it a nice stance too.

thanks guys, here's another snap- and YES, it's a tarp painted black and taped on. It doesn't look great but it keeps the rain out

you caught me- I was totally posing last night, here's a feeble donut in the dirt attempt, and a feeble motion shot. That kook driving is none other than myself  The others were OK, but due to the sun I couldn't get all angles

Now you see my secret dry lake photo location is all just photo trickery in how I set up the shots!

here you can see a preview of my headlight mount: a stock headlight bar with the middle cut out, the buckets bent down, and twisted, and bent out in about three spots, bolted to my hood shelves, and stabilized by a 3/8 round bar welded to two washers bolted to the hedlight studs. I just need a V8 emblem, cut in half to show that it's a 4 banger!

    Fantastic pictures.

    About the hup caps.

Sacremento Vintage Ford now do a ribbed '32 hubcap but without the V8 logo stamped in the centre.

This is what I was using and were perfect because the '32 cap was my favourite but I would never use them in standard form because of the V8 logo.

Wow, that looks great. Green's my favorite color and I've been trying to figure out how to do an early look with it. That nails it. Any idea what shade that is?

the can calls it "Hunter Green Satin". Not really forest cause it's lighter than forest, not as much brown in it. It looks a little different in person. It's got more grey I'd say, close to British green, but lighter, more, I don't really know how to describe it. Not as rich as britsh racing green.[/

thanks guys, I have to give props to Artiki, his ride was my inspiration, and the pale seafoam green A coupe from the Hayride, not sure who's it was cause the pics from that thread have exceeded their bandwidth :D

    What brand is it?

Also, another hubcap idea: Speedway sells (or used to sell) 1932-1934 4-cyl hubcaps. They would fit any V8 wire and just say "Ford" instead of V8.

    Krylon, garden variety spraybomb :D

Yeah, I think I may be ordering from Speedway soon, and saw those before. Their site is hard to navigate, I'll have to dig out the catalog, they have quite a selection. Saw the "Ford" logo ones at Mikes-A-Fordable as well.

Was kind of looking for a good used set though to match the chrome condition on everything else, but not really a big deal, I need them before Billetproof!
