I wanted to let all you HAMB'ers know that I am no longer affiliated with the International Agri-Center, I have received several pm's, phone calls and text re: the swap meet. All I can say is good luck! Most have had issues getting information, a live phone call, reserving space, or confirmation of space. It is not the swap meet that I created, and I appreciate all of you that supported it last year! Best of Luck! Jim aka Sanford & Son Check out this fun video of my Sanford & Son Truck!
Sorry to hear this. I drove up to I believe the first one you posted about from Redlands. Long drive but the meet was well laid out and parking was easy. I bought several items and got some ideas from other vendors for a couple of my projects.
Bummer..sounds like the AG Center is fixing to kill a possible great swapmeet. Several guys I know have sent in payment to get a vendor space..2 mos ago...and haven't heard anything back. Worst yet is when you call them and leave messages for the person in charge and you never get a return call. A friend of mine has called 12 times only to be more and more frustrated. Keep in mind the swap is supposed to be in 3 weeks! I think they stuck a fork in it...hope I'm wrong. Heard it was great while it lasted.
I'm thinking that happens a lot when someone who underestimates the work and responsibility that goes into putting on an event of that size takes over from a person or group who did a stellar job of it. Just as not everyone is capable of running a business not everyone is capable of running an event.
I attended last May and September. In both cases I drove cross country to cover and promote this Event on social media because it had the potential to develop into The West Coast Hershey Equivalent. For what it is worth …. I no longer support this Event. There was an opportunity to move it to The Tulare Fairgrounds but that was rejected. Jim
This is a map of last years Post War & Pre War Vendor Section. I believe this is a map of this years Pre War Vending Section If the Vendor Entrance remains the same as it was in May and September of 2021 and if the public parking remains the same as it was in May & September of 2021 … That is one long @ss walk to the Vendors from the parking lot. The May & September Meets were developed and brought to reality by Jim. That is why they were such a Success. Jim
That is such a bummer!! Went to the first one it was great!! Bought some things and me and a buddy were wanting to rent a couple of spaces and sell and just have a good time. The San Joaquin Valley really needs an event like this.
Jim grew up in the area. He has a lot of friends and business connections. What he did at the Ag Center for The Hobby he can do again - perhaps at the Tulare Fairgrounds. What he accomplished with Swap-O- Rama was done for the Good of the Hobby. The Hobby needs to support guys like Jim who work hard to keep Swap Meets alive. Jim
If Jim can put one together like the first one he did at the AG center I'm in even with the high cost of diesel for the long drive to Tulare/Visalia.
@Sanford&Son i hope you pull something together, I’ve not been able to make one, keep getting scheduled to work on a Saturday, but being my regular shift is Sun-Wednesday, it really was one I wanted to get to. Best of luck moving forward!
Hey Jim, it is Anthony with Hot Rod Coalition out of Fresno. How can I get in touch with you? Could you email me? anthony@hotrodcoalition.com The email you've used in the past doesn't work anymore. Thanks buddy, I look forward to hearing from you.
