The group photo was shot outside Fresno, California, on SR 99 as the club either cruised south toward L.A. or north toward the Bay Area to meet up and swap with other members of the club. It's something you can still do in early February on a SoCal three-day weekend. This was from Hot Rod magazine, written by Doug Glad. From my point of view I always like to see photo's like this, I was just a kid in 1963 but I had already been bitten by the hot rod bug and to this day I still enjoy seeing images like these. Thankfully, someone had a camera handy and saved these images for the future hot rodders. HRP
I built my tub in 1963 and I was the youngest member of my car club, those were great times to be a hot rodder,it seemed everything was new to my eyes.
Such great pictures. Some I have on the wall in my shop and some I’ve never seen before, thanks. I still drive good old Hwy 99 through Fresno regularly on my way to LA and back. I only wish it was with a group of roadsters like that.
Scritchfield, McMullen, Kraft, and others. Who knew back then that their cars would still be around in the same form (pretty much) 60 years later?
