This is my new ride, a 1963 riviera. Its got the 401 nailhead, ac, power driver seat, and power windows. Just got it running and took it around the neighborhood and died once and of course the battery is dead, but it was running pretty good. The only problem is that no lights (brake/taillights, headlights, dash, interior) will work except the radio and parking lights. But hey, its a 63 rivi.
You got one sweet ride. The Rivs of that vintage are one of the great designs of all time in my opinion, ****tails with the Kennedy's. Your Stylin' Bro.
hey.. I got one of them here too!.. at least till tuesday.. I just finished alittle work on this one for my buddy mike I couldnt decide on the tires.. so one side.. whites out.. one side.. whites in.. mike wasnt too impressed.. this one has new springs and shocks.. hopefully yours sits lower.. sawzall
my grandma had one of those fully loaded, power everything, damn thing only had a little over 30,000 on the odometer, thing was perfect, then my uncle sold it for $1400 bucks, then i found out she would of given to me for free!! they thought i wouldnt want it because it was to new and a buick!! oh well. yours look sweet that thing loooks pretty solid, does this mean the merc is on the backburner now????
Rivi's are great! All they need is a little lowering and even then they don't really need that. One of the best designs ever.
the merc is just sitting in the garage waiting for more metal for the inner rockers. but the doors are on and the holes are filled. almost ready to chop it. the rivi is gonna be my daily driver, not too good on gas mileage but who cares when your driving a car that looks like that.
Sweet ride...nothing like the first week of a project. Finding all the issues, fixing em and getting it rollin. Excellent choice in iron!
i will be working on it over the weekend, and let you guys know how it goes. one of the problems i have know is that the engine won't start unless you put gas directly into the carb. fuel pump and line is brand new and the carb was just rebuilt. it will stay running after it starts though. got any suggestions?
What year did they drop the Dyna-Slow and go to a TH400? I've also seen 63's with a 401 or 425.. Both motors available?
Yep, welcome to the Rivi club. I thought I was a freak for liking them until I came to the HAMB. And word is the bossman around here really likes them too. Here's my '65 at Roundup. Interior is now done but other than that is the same.
I think the TH400 started in the 64/65. what goes bad on the dyna-slow? yeh, i pretty sure that they came with the 401 or 425(optional).
how can you fix it or test it to see if it is the headlight switch? there is a lot of wires that go into a little flat box(not the fuse box) that looks like it should connect to the steering column but doesn't fit (will try to get a pic tomorrow). whats up with that? also i like the 1965 'indashop'. it looks better without the headlights showing like in the '63.
