So I know they are a simple bolt-on ( I have 'em on my doodlebug) but my question is will a tire bigger than a 6:00-16 mount ok? Anything larger seems to recommend a minimum 4.5" wide rim and '35 Ford wires are 4". If anyone is running '35 Ford wires on their Model A please post pics with tire sizes. -thanks!
Yeah, just do it! It will work fine. I have 225/75/16 on '35 wires on the back and 215/70x16 on the front. Been running them for several years, tubeless. Dave
I’ve had 750’s on mine for a long time. Granted it’s been sitting in the garage pretty much the entire time lol. But I do see them Run often
The coupe I ran 7.50 16" on 35 wires in the rear and I put thousands of miles on that car. The roadster ive put hundreds of miles on (just gettimg started using this one). That's got a 7.00 16" on 35 wires in the rear. Super common to run a big fat bias ply on these wheels without issue.
My avatar has 7:00 16's on the rear and 5:50 16's on the front and my 30 Pickup had 7:00 16's on the rear with 6:00 16's on the front..
Thanks for the info guys! Here's a photo of the junk I'm working on. Was restored to show condition back in the early 90's and has a 1993 Senior AACA award. It sat in a ba*****t garage from 2003 until I bought it recently. It was so dirty it was hard to tell what color it was until I cleaned it up! I think the 7:00-16 rear and a 6:00-16 front will do the trick. Going to keep the banger but it may need a intake, cam and head.
Are all you hoodlums running the wheel support rings on your '35 wires? Anyone need a set of '35 wires? https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/35-ford-16-wires-w-caps.1262105/ Sorry for hijacking this thread, twice.
