Had my first ever ride in a pre 64 automobile last night. Incredibly, my 6’-6” body was able to get inside without my head touching the ceiling. It was quite the experience!

Thanks Stogy, it was great to see you again, and it made my day. Hope to see you at Jalopy Jamup in August.

@Phil P how was the drive back to Jasper?...Did you get any pics of the 3 Hotrods together? Please share a pic of your 30...there is a period sealed beam conversion for A Bucket for the 7" Sealed Beams...are those A Buckets on your Hotrod?

Agreed...You and Jerry's name get mentioned ALOT, Voodoo did some compliments to it later in the game too...I am always in admiration of the plausible vintage connections to a wartime Hotrod...with the rivets and aluminium just capturing but not overwhelming the overall look...

I had a good ride home, made it before it was completely dark.
As far as I know I have the stock 8.5" head lights. I'll look into the replacement options but I'm in no hurry. I only took 1 picture just to say I was there, I probably should have worked harder on the composition.

It was good to meet @Ziggster as well

It was good meeting you - Phil. I’d like to see Adam show up with one of his projects. I have a better pic of your rod, but you and Stogy are in the pic, so I wasn’t sure if I should post it. Here’s a pic of the pickup.

What, are you saying we're not photogenic.:D

  16. What's incredible is you have been a member of the hamb for 4 years and someone finally gave you a ride in a pre 64 automobile let alone a hot rod!

I concur with you, Thanks Stogy! :) HRP

I should let him drive it...I've been fortunate to drive some pretty cool rides...

It may help decide if a particular ride is for you...you're pretty tall too HRP...at near 6ft I feel I'm almost to big for the A but attention to seating can achieve a better experience...I've made some adjustments...to improve the experience...

I think one of my As had the seal beam conversion its a reducer ring or sorts...I drove for years on the old Buckets with silvering issues...I had a rough time at night...

Thanks for the offer Stogy. I think I’ll need to start doing some stretching exercises as my legs were already bent up pretty good. It would be interesting to see how I would manage a tighter space with the pedals and the steering wheel in the way. Lol!

Thanks for the compliments fellas. Jerry has a way with connecting with the vintage past with his visions in Hotrod...this Sport Coupe was a glowing example of just that...

A couple more pics of that day...

It was funny, on the way home I was trailing a 66ish Chevelle that was pretty hopped up but was smoking something fierce and funny thing was I couldn't pass him as he just kept speeding up so I pulled into a gas station to get some fresh air......and then this other fella pulled up and nearly 1/2 an hour went by blah blah blahing...was pretty late getting home that night...:D

It was a great experience even though my door flew open while going down the road (my bad). Lol! My back was a bit tender the next day, but had been acting up prior. Hardest part was getting my size 13 feet past the door pillar, but Stogy shared his secret to getting in - butt first. Haha!
It’s not just the about the ride, but probably more importantly, the people you get to meet and their stories. Was able to talk to a couple of “old-timers” about their respective Studebakers afterwards and hear their stories. The 40 Studebaker was actually a staff car at the base located at Dowds Lake here in Ottawa with a V8 Avanti engine. The 61 Studebaker Champ was from Arizona, and had a factory cabin air filter. The owner was planning on adding a wooden floor to the bed soon. These are the stories which keep you coming back.

I think I got the Sporty in 2015...maybe the fall...what's the date on the pic when you picked it up?

    Oct 2015...;)
