When I see a cool old car then hear it take off with that delay in the sound of a manual gear change, it absolutely makes my day.

    Banging gears is therapy.

Bought a Muncie out of a 64 GTO when I was still in college in the early 70's, been hauling it around since through
2 ex wifes, several career changes, and I don't know how many moves. Finally using it in my 50 chevy truck, should be on the road this year.

  12. I figured a stick would be a good way to keep my kids out of the car. It had the pedals anyway so I went with it.

When I was in HS I changed the automatic in my '65 Falcon 2 dr wagon to a full syncro 3speed out of a buddy's wrecked '64 Comet. Then in JC it got a 4 speed T-10. Had to sell it when I got drafted. Currently my '39 p/u has a Flathead and a 3 speed but the '54 Ranch Wagon project will get an AOD behind the 302. Guess I'm just getting old. Or maybe according to @Moriarity just turning into 1/2 of a girl?

  17. Of the 4 HAMB era vehicles I own, three are m/t's, one a/t.
Manual transmissions authenticate the experience of what traditional Hot Rods are about.

  22. Technically, my "stick" is actually a limb because mine has a "three on the tree".

'32 Roadster '39 trans, '32 3W Muncie M-20, '55 Delray Richmond 5 speed, '04 GTO 6 speed. I've been building cars since '58 and never with an automatic. My only auto is a '97 GMC Suburban 4L60E. So I have a 3, 4, 5 and 6 speed collection and enjoy driving them all.
