anyone have a contact? or sell their parts? I need to connect up a '76 TA box with two joints and splined to an Ididit steering column. Seems easy? well I called Borgeson after looking online at what is available and let's just say that the guy I spoke with did not leave me with the comfort level I want when traveling at high rates of speed which do occur with great frequency. Basically he left me with NO answers, like pick what you want and go for it.

Better yet, A HAMB member that wants my money and can get me what I need? I'll even pay, ask lots of people.

Hummm.. Ok I give ! Whats the diamater of the shaft on the box and spline count and the same **** on the column:confused: Maybe thats why the guy wasnt as helpful as you liked:confused: 2 joints or more? That will require a support bearing.
    Im listening

  3. If you're an Alliance vendor, sorry for stepping on your toes.

You can get 'em from Gambino Kustoms (Alliance vendor)...http://www.gambinokustoms.com

Jusjunk is right, you'll need to know those details. I called Borgeson and they were cool to me, but they don't want to undercut their distributors, so the prices aren't any better. I got mine locally...helped 'cause I needed to exchange one. Now, I'd go to Gambino.

Thanks 51!!! will do so tomorrow. I completely understand Borgeson's point? and thought so maybe? wish he would have just said so :)

and. Well a lot to type, especially with proper grammar, and would have rather explained to who I am purchasing from...but hey. The box is a 7826692 with two joints, at the box and the rag, with a collapsible shaft and an internal spline of 1". The steering column ends with a double D of 3/4". There is right now 10-1/2" to fill. Maybe because. So this is also maybe where you can help Dave. Considering that I would like to keep a collapsible shaft and maybe add a vibrational reducer which as you did say with the additional joints requires a support bearing, do I simply add to the length and **** there (yeck)? or do I replace everything from the box to the steering column and skip the support bearing.

and. Later I may upgrade to a stiffer steering box from a TA, IROC, etc as my box is a 7826692 w/ 2.5 and I would like to have the 2.25. Thanks.

I'll give it a try. Working box to steering you need to know the following. Type of box and if the input shaft has a welded joint or a spline joint, if spline style, spline count on the box input shaft and shaft diameter.

If welded joint, the diameter of the shaft, since it will be necessary to weld the joint on, not a good idea(most input shafts have a removeable joint).

The next is the shaft diameter and the spline count on the steering column shaft (manufacturer if possible). At this time the shaft and box should be correctly mounted.

It is necessary to determine the lenght of the connecting shaft. Most shafts are based upon a 3/4" --36 spline shaft. Each joint requires about 3/4" coupling depth on each end and there is about 1 1/2'" space inside a joint, you can approximate the lenght of the coupling shaft by measuring the stub to stub (Column to Box) and subtract 3" from this distance to get the correct shaft lenght. Shafts are sold in 2" increments so it may be necessary to get one longer and cut it down. At that time you may purchase a support bearing.

This will allow you to ask for a combination of joints to match your parts and the correct length connection shaft. Example using a Mustang rack would be: 9/16" x 26 by 3/4" x 36 joint: to a 3/4" DD by 3/4" x36 joint with a 3/4" x36 shaft x ??" long and a 3/4" bearing support. Hope this helps explain things.

I have steering joints that I will sell. They are new Flamming River stainless steel. They were installed and then removed, I went with another option.
    Here are the sizes; 3/4'DD X 1"DD, 3/4"DD X 9/16" spline, and 3/4" X 3/4" DD
If you can use them I will sell them for $48 ea plus shipping. Cost new is $68

Hey, are you still going to build that A? You know, the one with all the cool old speed parts?!

Hey there...I work here at Borgeson and truley feel bad that you feel discuraged....Your box should be either 13/16-36 spline or 3/4-30 ...sounds like your column is 3/4 dd...I would just put a vibration joint at the box and a regular joint at the column...that way no support brg is needed...sorry again...hope you keep up the high rates of speed, I know I do....Billy C
