It is a prototype of a car that was made to get out of parallel parking spaces easier with the swiveling rear wheel. Here is another one....
WELL, here's the deal, (from what I have read and researched ) All standards came with ONE tailight on drivers side, But Some States require that ALL cars be equipped with a tailight on EACH SIDE. Washington State required one on each side: So dealer's in those states, requiring it, had DEALER INSTRUCTIONS TEMPLATES. Depending on how competent installer was, depended on whether it was installed correctly. Hence, Some I have seen are crooked as heck. !!!! At weird angles, low, high, etc.
Thanks for the feedback. I knew the (standard) Standard had one light... you just don't see them that often. I've seen a lot of '39 and earlier Standards with one, but most '40s I've seen have two. I'm sure you're right about two taillights being required in some (but not all) states, which required dealer installation. Kind of the flip side of the advent of quad headlights when some states outlawed them. Boy, how pissed would you be if the dealer botched the installation!!!
Nice pictures of the race cars at Connecticut Dragway and it's distinctive starting line towers. I recognize many of the cars you have posted. It was a great place. Thanks.
