Event Coverage Roll call for the Hot Rod Reunion

Going to be as hot as balls,so bring plenty of drinks and a big hat.
It is 96 deg at the moment with a heat index of 107

 

I plan to go Saturday. I don't know what I will drive yet. Look forward to it every year.

 

I used to drag race there. It’s a great event.

 

I made it bitches! Automatic transmission and all. Car did awesome, think i need to throw bigger jets in the carb, but it never ran over 180 degrees and rolled all the way 70-75mph. 180 was sitting in traffic. I'm happy with my car. Now let's see them 4 speed cars here! Or just let em sit in your garage, your choice

Hell yeah man! We went to mister B's for lunch, been to Walmart, gonna relax in the hotel a little while and go out and tune on my car some. Let the sun chill out a bit lol.. better than snow!

 

Can anyone tell my the spectator ticket prices? Just trying to reduce the shell shock! My son and I are coming down Saturday.

Thanks, that's not bad, I was worried. We haven't gone for a few years, so I wasn't sure what it was up to now.

 

Since when does any group have the right to make demands on a racing organization??? Its a timed event and certain things have to happen at certain times so that everyone there gets to enjoy it. Who do you tell to stay home or sorry , you dont get to run with the addition of more fuel cars? Fuel cars are great for the spectators and also a pain for the Track, spectators and racers when they puke the track. Adding more of them increases the odds. NHRR is a 2 day event, CHRR is a 4 day event.

 

One of the nitro funny car guys was drinking beer with us, I asked him what was going on. He said that the NHRA made the statement that this isn't a race, it's a reunion, and that's what caused all of the shit. It's a warm day, but I'd rather be here sweating than sweating at work lol.... good times going on. Today is supposed to be the hottest, down to 83 degrees on Saturday.

 

The way I was explained, it would be like the straight axle mafia telling Quain that they could bring 16 cars to a SEGA race. Different groups.

 

How is the turnout? Is it looking down due to the boycott?

 

Doesn't seem like it to me, looks like a normal Thursday. We just got to the hotel, but we passed a bunch of show cars and race cars still going in.

 

The pit area looks packed to me, the normal ocean of rigs. It's hot out, I'm sure that's knocking down the show & shine.

 

From the start it was always a gathering. Then many years ago when GG's dropped the series, the CHRR allowed the cars to race as a heritage series event so that they had more than just 2 events. Also take note that in the beginning , there was no entry fee, just a ticket to get in , and they just put some classes together, if there was no class for you , you ran exhibition. If for some reason if you did not make a pass, tuff luck as you got the car in for free without a guarantee of making a pass

this is a points meet for the heritage series (top fuel and fuel funnies) so it’s definitely a race.

For everybody's entertainment, it came a good rain this morning, and cooled the place down to 75 degrees for most of the day. Postponed racing until a little after noon. Around 3 it got back to 90, but it feels better than yesterday. 83 tmrw, cars are gonna haul some ass!

My Dad at 75 was on a cane for 3 days and never looked back , best thing he ever did . Good luck , prayers are with you for a full recovery .

Yep! Great day! Another reunion in the books! Probably my favorite so far. @enloe I had a blast my brother! Make sure to tell Ethan and Darren it was a blast! I wonder just how many wings we've ate this week and I gotta let you all in on my new position with the Bartone & Lebor nitro funny car team, I'm the new head of security I'm gonna bring Enloe on as my bodyguard! There must have been a hundred people stopping and taking pics of your El Camino,,,,,it looked like it was a crowd favorite .
Maybe next year I can motivate around better and go look at all the cool cars .
There were some really nice machines there,,,,,,some very interesting combinations too .

I just saw that pic posted of the pistol grip shifter in the 55 Chevy ,,,,,with the bench seat notched out to clear the handle,,,,,that was cool !
