Can you hang it from a cherry picker?
Bob, I thought of that but there is too many obstacles in the way to get a decent spray pattern. I think I remedied it last last but I the jury is still out. I'll post it.

I'm going to to do a bit more searching before I mangle the ones I have that are too large.

Last night I made some mods, actually I tore it completely apart and started over. I widened the base to 44", removed the front crossmember and went all Frank Lloyd Wright on it.
    upload_2022-6-14_10-54-53.png
Going for a full cantilever design I moved the 4X4 uprights over the frame to support more weight, leaving only enough space to screw the 2X4 base down to the frame.

I added a steel beam on top and secured it in place with a couple of 2X2's so It can't move. I wish there was room on the bottom for another as that 2X6 is bowing a bit. I used a chain and ratchet strap in back with hopes I could just leave the front completely open but it was a bit bouncy.
    upload_2022-6-14_10-58-16.png
So I added a couple of 2X2 uprights under the front of the arms which definitely removed the bouncy bit. There isn't much weight on those front supports but they sure made a big difference.

Now there is luxurious amounts of room to roll under and stand up inside the bed while still having the bed low enough to paint the outside without standing on a step stool. I think I got this one done.

That only leaves something to hang the gate from which should be easy enough to build. A bit more sanding and some cleanup. Paint maybe next week while the weather is cooperating.

But for today, a buddy called and invited me to play golf at Royal Oaks CC this afternoon. I can't p*** that up

I may copy that for my bed.... or farm the whole thing out. Nice work.

    That there is funny

I'm a one man show so I have to try to make it easy on myself. easier to paint all in one piece but this will turn out nicer.

Hopefully I will let you know how it goes next week. That bed was the hardest piece to figure out how to paint, I think this will work well. Now I have to build something to hang the gate on. That shouldn't be too difficult.

Like I said a few posts back, the weather this late in June can go from 55 and raining to 100 in a heartbeat.
    upload_2022-6-26_13-9-3.png
But there is a window, This next Tuesday and Wednesday are optimal for painting outside in my bouncy house paint booth. In preparation I sanded the entire truck to 400 dry and then to 600 wet over the last week.

Today I pressure washed everything inside and out including all of the stands and rollers and hosed down the garage so as not to track dust into the paint booth.
    upload_2022-6-26_13-12-49.png
Tomorrow after work I will inflate the paint booth right there in the courtyard where the truck is above and make sure it is ready to go. Then get up Tuesday morning and paint the cab, doors and front fenders then paint the bed, tail gate and rear fenders Wednesday.

With my skill set I have taken the body as far as I possibly can. Time to paint.

Tuesday? That means cheap taco night at the watering hole. I'll probably be still painting. I'm on a break waiting 20 minutes or so for my firewall to dry so I can mask it off.

Here is the bouncy house full of truck parts
    upload_2022-6-28_14-31-37.png
I had an explosion proof fan so I stuck in the back to aid in air flow and it is remarkably clear in there during the sealer stage. I routed it through a couple of furnace filters

    Last view of grey panels
    upload_2022-6-28_14-34-15.png
Now in black sealer and a Wimbledon white firewall
    upload_2022-6-28_14-35-31.png
I'll give it a few more minutes and mask that off and paint the truck.. The plan is to clear the cab all at once cuz I'm lazy and figured this was easier.
I'll be back with more in a while. Taco Tuesday sure sounds good about now.

Here are some from last night, I was too tired to type. This is a lot harder than it looks, god bless all the paint and body guys out there. If you ever griped about the cost of a paint job, do one yourself.

With the doors off I was able to paint and clear the dash and jambs. Think of all the trees I saved not masking.
    upload_2022-6-29_11-57-10.png
It wasn't without it's mishaps but nothing I cant fix with more labor!
    upload_2022-6-29_11-59-24.png
Both doors came out nice, just a little cut and buff.
    upload_2022-6-29_12-0-36.png
The roof is very nice and the firewall and cowl but I did get a hanger or three on the back of the cab. They may sand out or I may need to repair it, easy mask off on that panel if need be but first we will try sanding them out.
    upload_2022-6-29_12-3-49.png
Everything back in the garage so they don't blush if it gets a bit chilly over night.
The morning and the evening, the first day. And I am pleased.
    upload_2022-6-29_12-5-47.png
The bed and rear fenders are in the booth and in sealer, I'm heading out now to put some black on them.
    Back in a bit.

BIG step, very big . Congratulations . Try to sand the drips off before the clear gets too hard. Well done

No one will see the back of the cab anyway. Just extra corrosion prevention.
