... so the camshaft removal is a careful operation I didn't chip any lobes on the lifters it was about contacting the br*** hammer on the back on the cam and using the dead blow a tap or two then check the lobes for clearance with the lifters . Took about 40 minutes it just didn't slide out like a You Tube jock shows ya so next was to get a magnet and remove the remaining lifters except for one that was slightly mushroomed so left that for later marked all the lifters and bagged them in oil them flip up Flo ( ooohhh ! ) and took all the clips out that I had stuffed in the valve head area to keep them open then tried my valve spring tool in frustrating fashion so abandoned that them thought all I need 8s a stepper well got a socket it's a short 1/4 " drive socket enough for the valve reatiner cap to be lifted then I push the valve head closed and with one of those 1.99 HF mini picks and a magnet fished out the two retainer halves set them aside with the cap then slide the valve out the top with some light prybars persuasion then pushed the valve spring down the lifter bore like it was a toilet job then took a socket that is smaller than the valve guide bore and gladly knocked it out the bottom . I ain't stopping yet but some of you it's late so posting this for you now so a good evening to all and keep your foot in it

    Good day Everyone !

... for stuck valves I can get the valve head off the seat a little so am using this method ( see picture below ) to remove the valve from the guide . Yes the intakes are a mess due to engine being stored outside without a carburator all intake ports are worse looking than the exhaust ports so no salvaging a complete set of valve ***emblies as I was anticipating . So just got one valve ***embly out and gonna get the remaining three intake valves today then take out the oil galley keepers and we have a bare block except for the head studs . Haven't decided yet I'm sure **** wants to deck the block and I'm leaning towards that decision also so engine is fit for another 70 years or more .

    Hi Everyone ,
I've been designing a cam for Flo and also a grind trying for a compromise between cooling qualities and a steady inclining power band for hills and mountains . Flo's 8BA stick is perfect for George at Clay Smith to work with but also the numbers I'm lookingg at are .380 lift 252 duration with a 109 angle so going to Alan and he has a Clay Smith but I need to check it with a cam degree wheel in a jig with dial indicator so that's not for today .
Today we have to remove Flo's 4 head studs that someone installed they are nifty I do like them makes it easy to hang a head with engine in it's bay so I would like to keep them intact and what do you know we have some luck as I just got one out with a little Propane heat around the bolt areayes I did apy heat directly inside the water jacket on both sides of the bolts threaded area not much back and forth for about a full minute then circled the heat in the 4" area around that bt so as not to warp the valve seats so warmed them up a little then let it sit and cool for about 3 minutes then jammed two nuts together and the first bolt has come to turn smoothly and salvaged for reuse . I hope to have them all out today then call **** and get a ride for Flo to the machine shop !

So on the second one I stripped a jam nut so realized that perhaps machinist hardened nuts would be better then thought I also need for grab so more threads so looks like these are studs for a 59 or 99 block and I added 4 more threads on this second stud and that gave me enough grab and the second stud is spinning also after heating it up twice

    Hi Everyone !

    Much Elation Today !

Waiting on finding sound engine parts and slowly gathering money seems a trickle at a time so instead of paying the shop for work I can do here at the Parlor I have taken out the rest of that broken head bolt I had been working on now and then since beginning the Flo Project last year or maybe beginning of this year .
This is the bolt hole I had broken off the screw extractor so had got that extractor stub out awhile ago so now today got started at 8 and it's now 1:45 and the bolt is out and threads are recut so total time estimate on this hole is 25 hours give or take 3 .
You can see on the bench everything on it was used today and the Straight Fluted 9/32" carbide but did sacrifice itself that was 33 dollars so when it broke I did tell myself we really gotta make this worthwhile today and it went it was a sliver and a shaving at a time for most of the job I kept a straight hole by using the tap and watching which way it would continue crooked then would stop and get the Dremel to shave it the hollow carc*** then use magnets to fish out the shavings then tap another 1/4 thread and repeat .
Yes I did apply heat this morning and yesterday also . Yesterday the whole bolt carc*** did turn a quarter turn with a No. 5 screw extractor after applying heat around the area with a propane torch . Now you know I don't like heat stress factors especially on the deck of a flattie weather you choose to stress relieve the block or not stress relieve I don't believe in messing something up to get something right so little heat was used . I came in today and used the heat 3 or 4 times and it would not nudge so I ain't into forcing science and I agreeable to the fact that I do have everything it takes to get this bolt hole right so I did .
So I have one broken full threaded stock in another hole and a small piece in another on the other deck and most of these broken bts are next to the exit of the exhaust runners . Maybe it's an EAB/8RT/8BA thing and wonder if Mercury has that issue .
Well just noticed upon taking a photo the tap went through the bottom to the coolant p***age it looks repairable with the thread sealant used on diesel engines and I'm using that on all my head bolts anyways . Fleet mechanic I know showed me that trick it's a permanent sealant I'll show it when I get it during engine ***embly .
Tomorrow I will start on the other bolt it also moved with heat then twisted like ****er I got it out two threads the other day so hope it's easier tomorrow we see .
Take care and have an enjoyable evening

    Hi Everyone !

Hope all are well and doing alright .
So we're done with headbolt removal all are out and did save threads on all holes but two out of five of those the beginning 2-3 threads have a bit to much wiggle on them so those two will get thread inserts at the machine shop . Freddie is still there and **** says it's holding up the concrete and doing a fine job ( chuckle lol )

So started porting and blending yesterday all these valve seats have ridges where they meet the bowl area so cleaning up and straightening by shaving the bends in the runners . On how much I port and where I polish will depend mainly on the valve lift which I have calculated at .380 " so I recall Flo's actual valvelift when dial indicated was .265" - .267" so that is .115" difference which comes to about 35% enhancement of the valve lift in this new engine camshaft design . So basically I can open up the bowl area and that also will help accommodate proper flow for the 1.7" valves **** likes to use . I did some checking with old valves and we can actually go with 1.8" valves and still have about .015"- .020" clearance between the two valve heads . So overporting an intake won't happen here plus I'm measuring the runners i.d. with the measuring tools so they will be evenly ported . Yes I am taking off about 5bto 8 % off the bowl walls of the exhaust and moderate on the intakes probably about 5% is my eyeball guess at the moment . I will do the math later by measuring the stock valve bowls then comparing the new numbers with the stock ones then figure my percentage . I will make sure the porting percentage stays under the valve lift percentage . One important fact we are only doing certain areas inside the runners and bowls so that the charge has time to vaporize properly and also placement of the charge should be around the spark plug not shoved into the far wall of the cylinder . Ever see a piston top blackened at the far wall that is from improper spark and/or a charge that pushed into the far corner . You want the charge to fill the bowl so it can properly fill the complete combustion area . So this is the goal . In this part of the project it's very important and done as proper as one can will help Flo really flow . In the photos we ain't done yet but this is just beginning photos from yesterday and today's work . Some estimate 30 hours port/polishing job good for them I'm doing as much as a 380 lift cam will allow me to do and also am going to hand polish the runners with a long twisted rope of 280 then 500 Emory cloth . That will be for next month of course for now we just relieving the athsma from this engine .
Please do have a swell evening and thank you for your interest

    Hi Everyone

We wish all a good day today and am at the desk to figure how far can the porting and polishing go so in the photos are the specs set in 1952 Ford Repair Manual . Dizzy with factory cam profiles from ' Who Said What ' and fingers pointing to the moon with numbers that jar Albert Einstein so I get the factory specs from a factory manual it makes sense to me and always has though spec conversation is always good and fun to throw around so pictured below is what the good book says so I will go with that ( please take note I am not getting specs from a 1951 manual ) and use it for a percentage rating for opening up the breathing areas to match the planned .380' lift cam and will stay below that number so 15% improvement in flow is safe so I will grind mildly at the bowl and runners and keep the polishing safe and subtle . No full surface polishing now a .430 cam I would go all out on porting and polishing . Also contemplating 1.6 exhaust valves to help the extraction of heat out the block just that much more . Also today am preparing for the L.A. Roadsters Father's Day Show & Swap that cancel mob won't allow on Father's Day so it is only on Friday and Saturday well everyone do have a great Father's Day and thank you to all the Original Hot Rodders who have been instrumental and inspirational in the Freddie & Flo Project and all the car builds I've ever been on a HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL OF YOU !!!!!

    Hi Everyone

Hope your week is going well ain't no summertime blues over here no time for that never really is time so it seems that also goes with me getting here late today got customer action for now that's cool so I have done the start of the finishing on the bowls and turning out well enough using the SC-5 #4 cutter on the cordless/brushless die grinder at low speed about 10-12k rpm to open up the bowls and create a sliding exit from the bowls to the runners . So did all that on the 4 bowls of Cyl 5&6 over the weekend and yesterday . Also been spifying up a pair of original 32 running boards in excellent shape they came with covers unattached and no vulcanizing marks on them so they were created in the After Henry Period of time . Picked those up from Sammy at LARS Friday morning with some other original steel 32 trinkets so squirreling is coming along fine ( oh geeze we building a car !! ) History may teach BC and AD but I go by DH and AH time schedules when I have to reach for my grip roll .
So this two cylinders 5 and 6 turned out well enough today after using a Forney 80 grit 1 1/2 " at 25k rpms on same die grinder looks like I dipped to low into the valve guide area on #6 intake ooppps so that's time to stop and going to go back to Torrance Industrial for a 120 grit flap wheel perhaps tomorrow so meantime please do enjoy your evening and thank you for your interest I do make efforts to keep this interesting and educational in hopes that everyone knows they can do these things also and if you don't have patience you will after it's all done

    Hi Everyone ,

Alot got erased from this thread really makes me wonder what's really going on with the administrator side of this support site . Maybe I'm not buying parts from the sponsored vendors andreposting the last week's work is punishment. Shame on me !

So where did we leave off last Tuesday it was cylinders 5 & 6 so just doing the bowls and measuring to keep them within limits of a 15 % over stock volume and is working out great ! I shaving the walls I am keeping under 3/32 "and really shaving evenly and smoothly no digging in one spot and eying comparisons from one side to the other and it's easy to keep your work centered using the Forney 1 1/2" flap wheels to semi finish the bowls . So after expanding and shaping the bowls with the #4 cutter/deburr bit attached to the cordless 24v die grinder set at 12000rpm I switched to the 80 flap wheel then a 120 flap wheel . So completed all 8 bowls on the left deck and yes was cautious think on the first bowls I did the exhaust at #5 cylinder took 2-3 hours and on the last one #8 exhaust shaped and semi-finished in 20 minutes . Someone mentioned Black &Decker and Sioux makes flathead bowl grinders and if they are the ones I saw online for 31 buck the flap wheels retail for 9 each and went through one 80 grit and two 120 grit for the one side and I'm ready to polish those bowls without having to purchase a bag of rolled Emory clothes so consumables price for the left bank is $30 and seems same as if I went the way most were trained to do this including myself but this is an at home job no air compressors or shop equipment . Just a pressed board on a concrete slab with a flathead block poised on blocks for proper positioning and is really more relaxing and less mess I've noticed with same results as a shop equipped environment . I still wear my composite toes boots of course so hear are some pictures of the left deck as I had previously posted and I don't see those posts oh well good thing high tech don't control building a flattie ! And today's bonus picture is the opening up of #8 intake ! Have a swell evening !!

    Hi Everyone

Been in and out of The Parlor porting away on the bowls and throat area of the ports and started on the runners , getting supplies for this at basically the same industrial supply and been making my own polishing attachments with strips I cut off sheets of 1000 , 1500 , 2000 , 2500 attached to an old wire wheel mandrel with masking tape just roll it around the tip of the worn attachment and wrap tape around the bottom edge of the sandpaper strip to the attachment/mandrel and when the paper strip wears down just peel it back like a Nestles King drumstick and polish away some more . One thing you have to understand is both the men who taught me porting come from an era that isn't quite as fancy pants as today . So I can make my own tool attachments and save hundreds and have fun doing it . That is enjoyment to me but may not be for you but when **** Jones and Bobby Meeks are your teachers it's a sit down and shut up and port away session and keep it artful and smooth no heavy digging required and don't go beyond the means of your block when porting these and I do suggest you study Bored & Stroked porting advice on how to know how thick the walls are suppose to be but do take into consideration the corrosion on the water jacket side of the walls you are grinding and polishing on . It's Heaven and Hell . Do not break through into hell study the pics on Bored & Sroked info . Just Google it you will find it I cannot reveal it's source as the HAMB admin Godz may delete this post as they did by revealing the brand of my tools and where I get my supplies . Simple information so you can do this porting procedure has been defined as advertising so is blocked for now .Perhaps I should contact admins and ask where is the line drawn Yes I measured the bowls and have a .010 " diameter difference between all the bowls so I will determine later as to weather to clean up the smaller bowls to match the larger bowls it's on too the runners now and the exhausts are going to be interesting as far as tooling goes as the goal is to cleanup entire exhaust area for a quick gas charge exit . We are also going to design into the exhaust cam lobes for the gases to be expelled during BBDC .
We also got a Merc crank at ,010 under for mains and rods I measured and 8nspected for cracks it has had some nice work done to it needs polishing but **** may want to turn it down another 10 so he can get a better radius from the journals . An aluminum flywheel from Speedway is laying around so I am getting it and a polished Offy 4 bbl is on the bench and there are 10 Holley small cfm 4 bbl carbs I went through today and looks like I will restore two or three of these especially the one with the cast iron throttle plate the others are aluminum and are better but this also is a vintage build and Alan does call it a Stock build he say it's a long way different than a racing flattie he also suggested I roughen up the porting job a little . I can do that later if required . So have more parts coming in thru HAMBers cams oil pump valve springs lifters from Goldenidolcustoms and more Holley 94 from Lostmind so each engine will have its own 2 bbl breaking carb . More fibergl*** fenders also I will need 3- 4 sets of fronts so I can piece together a longer fender line so the car looks proper with two Flatties in it . Very busy summer almost time to get off SS and get one of those real jobs !
Have a good evening Everyone and Thank you all for support much appreciated

arting to ramp up ch***is and body design

    Hi Everyone ,

Hope all are doing alright today as this post demands that your head is alright and you know this post is NOT an adverti*****t . Would that be called a Disclaimer ? is to show you what there is available and what can be done and that's it . I don't work for any tool/parts supply etc . Matter of fact Freddie & Flo would say I am their employee ! Ha !
So I picked up an Abrasive Sanding Kit from HF yesterday and saw one of the local car shows in the lot the store is in they have it every Saturday anyways I got the 52 piece pack for $20 comes with a 4 " arbor shaft and then this morning went to the Long Beach Vet Stadium Show & Swap and spotted the porting kit and got all the porting/metal tools for $10 . 5 for the tools and 5 for the box to put them in ! Grand indeed !
So I am doing this post to show you a real Basic Porting Kit cause I know many of you are getting by with the HF kit just fine so third picture and fourth I show you this porting kit and its instructions . I haven't used it yet and I will when we port Freddie and I will utilize the cones on Flo's intake runners .
Well all have a good evening and we be back Tuesday . Till then be well everyone

    Hi Everyone ,
Today I have good news concerning Everyone involved with Traditional and Rods . ..
... so today I went to Long Beach Veterans Stadium for the second time in a months period only this Show & Swap was organized by the Long Beach Model T Club . This was their 68th annual event there and online it simply asked to try to keep it to pre-war vehicles and related parts & items . So of course the 8RTs are post-war but the vehicle build is 32 Ford Tudor yet Intake Manifold Man has an Edmunds 8BA four barrel intake so today took his card and we are all in glee over soon agreeing to a deal on it . It looks racy real cool . Most everyone seemed to be business happy and no stresses except a couple packing up before I saw what they taking home well so be it see 'em next month . I figured if I could get a manifold for $250 that was number one goal but not quite anymore so 300 to 400 so I accept that fact and it can wait since I made about 8 transactions today averaging between 20-40 dollars :
1932 Stainless headlights minus lenses and one missing a reflector and a rim bezel - $20/pr minor dings and cleaned up well ! I can make the ding go away !
Found a bezel and reflector for $5 each
Early Delco distributor for revising for 8BA use $10 .
A stockroom box full of flathead Y pipes some valves all threaded about 24 and other Flathead coolant connector pipes about 50 pieces all together $10 . They go for $7 each online mine just need cleaning all are new .
10 Weldy tabs for connecting Heim joints $10 .
A mid to late1930s Ford pedal ***embly seems to be a truck ***embly with original nuts both mounting bells and spring intact $5 !!!
Leaf spring perches $10 each nice beauties almost new !
2 steel hardened die grinder bits long shank and 3 special hand files $35 .
A 1956 Cadillac Sombrero Wheel Cap for $30 been hanging on the wall for 30 years great shape and medallion barely faded shows some color and sharp design features still and a 1961 Caddy Sombrero Cap $10 the guy walked up to me as we were leaving and said to me " I thought you might be interested in this since you have the other Caddy cap it says 15 but it's yours for 10 . Yes I came home with money and good thing I need to get a money order Monday for 8BA Parts from Goldenidolcustoms so you guys know I don't drive so I brought a real backpack with me when I left for the Meet at 4am and it was full and about 60 pounds as I walked a mile to the bus man am I nuts for getting parts been like this for 48 years and I do really enjoy it . Picked up a Hubley Coupe and a tootsietoy firetruck and a hot wheel taildragger all for $23 oh and used yet cool 40 Ford emblems for 5 each and a book on mechanical toys for $5 so yes it's back to hot dogs for dinner tonite !
Have a nice evening or day or both

Carburator graciously given by Winr and gave a fuel pump also still prepping it thanks guys . This is just for kicks and sharing we have along ways to go an original beauty for sure Everyone have a nice evening

Hi Everyone , hope your evening is good like today was good for Freddie & Flo . Got some vintage factory carburators and an OEM Replacement carburator today two Holley 1273 one is a dash one so is replacement and a Carter WCFB and a beautiful pair of EAB-B heads . If they had Ford Racing back then they would sell you these heads . No letter D stamped and no Z either so not high al***ude or replacements . Their wear is mirror same so yes these were a pair from beginning and still are now . The hose outlets need work if I want them perfect I could smear silicone all over the mating surface but we restoring here and have a couple options one is to just flymill it smooth or smoother and the other is to fill it in with some Lincoln nodular rod and I'm not liking that idea due to my ways about excessive heat on metal . These are cast so going to keep it simple and non-evasive as the doctor says milling it is so far . The carbs well I gotta get the kits and the electroplating kits I've the Chandler Grove and the Holley 94 also to refirbish so now that I have all the carbs together I can invest in a plating kit or two . The Carter I may polish it I'm not sure yet just a thought . So happy with today's success and all do have a wonderful evening!

    Hi Everyone !
Hope your all good and having a decent Monday this parts bonanza entails careful cleanup so I don't scrub away important IDing stamps laying under the rust especially with the WCFB carburator it was hiding at the back bottom of the 4 bbl shelf at Alan's so today carefully toothbrushed some of it's surface and linkage and every part of this carburator has a stamp on it so easy as it goes and the top piece of the carbs body seem to be pot metal not aluminum and was told this by our trusty friend DeuceMac . Funny I was working on it trying to polish it thinking it was aluminum and it wasn't polishing to well as he asked me if I knew what WCFB stood for . I said Will Carter Four Barrel he said it stands for White Cast Four Barrel . Ohhh ! Did I stop polishing real quick ! Hahaha it just wasn't shining so make sense . So I lightly brushed some more then cleaned the EAB-B heads that also were from Alans and z what some beauties indeed my do they polish well with just a dry polishing barrel wheel bit set on 12500 rpm on my cordless die grinder and wish we had these cordless back in the day at Edelbrock . You can tell someone who worked at Edelbrock we all are pretty good with a die grinder ! Man what a strange thing to brag about well so I decided to see what Flo is going to look like and the green and gold does set off well indeed what a surprise !
Also spoke with **** today and he said for me to get all the other parts now and wait 3 months he is busy so that gives time for a better prepping and porting and parts procuring . Have a nice evening and a great week !

    Hi Everyone !

Hoping you are having a good week it's kinda slow so doing slow things like cleaning Flo some more so started with the blocks face side with some 1000 grit then 1500 and snuck in a little 2000 for kicks used a stainless pick and the 1/8 " SS rod scratching away I don't care if it's getting hot tanked or beaded or whatever it's just fun while I'm waiting on a 4 bbl intake manifold got coming from Ed going to meet with him in a week or so and then I can Match Port the Intake with the block and maybe do a little work on the intake also and got alot of cleaning of other parts to do also and get the cam of Flo's down to George at Clay Smith for a little cam grind tuning . It goes at it goes and doing just fine with the project and you do the same ! A good evening for Everyone

    Happy Friday Everyone !

It's car show time this afternoon so all for today is deep cleaning the Chandler-Grove 94 Carburator that Winr gave to us so that makes this carb a very special Chandler-Grove indeed .
So I'm restoring this carb with no carb cleaner just MEK due to the odor of carb cleaner since I am a****st those who do not realize the benefits of opening a door and enjoying the fact that it smells like alot of fun !
So anyways this is a restoration which is more involved processes than a carburator rebuild and that may entail plating a few linkage parts while we are doing this so not sure yet so far it's looking good just Dremel polishing and using very fine and fine wire attachments on Dremel and the die grinder . You can compare the looks of the bowl/venturi area from yesterday's photos to today's . I still have a jet and a screw stuck so I want to see if I can find replacements nearby before I continue on so next today is going to be Ruby's Cruise At The Beach hoping to see some Rods that aren't on thread then there is the local show tomorrow morning at Artesia/Hawthorne then Sunday going to Veterans Stadium Long Beach for the Hi-Po Swap&Show going to pick up Flo's 4 barrel intake I got a choice an Edelbrock Edmunds or a Sharp we see Sunday now you have a grand weekend and keep your foot in it !

Hi Everyone a nice Saturday for all from Erika and I !

On the Model 94 carburators if you can't get the jets out of the bowl after cleaning you can have some fun with your propane I wouldn't use MAPP gas it's a little hotter and this is aluminum so expands quite well using propane I heated it up about ten seconds waving the heat in that area then used the small needle nose (6 " ) vice grips and that jet turned with the vice grips without any slippage . Now half way done I had to heat it again and put a firmer grip on the jet with the vice grips I'm sure sediment has clogged the threads so be patient and repeat the process till it's out . The only thing easier to alleviate this is to throw the carb in the neighbor's yard for their dog to play with !
Well just thought I'd share a nifty trick that did work today and you can go back to your weekend now and keep your foot in it !

    Hi Everyone !

Getting there ! Yes that's a taller power valve than the stock one on the left . New idle jets and and as much as we could find today . Can you find the missing screw ?! Oh that's in Texas well ...
Most important is you have a nice evening

    Hi Everyone !
Things are alright today as you can see below and we hope your also alright today .
I'm kind of choked up guess I got feelings concerning getting a gift then turning it into a real beautiful thing again like this Chandler Grove given to us by Winr . I acquired all the rebuild parts locally from Alan and all parts are manufactured before 1953 according to their original invoices from Estes Ford in Inglewood CA . A carb kit then was 75 cents .
To get this carburator as it now is I used no carb cleaner just the MEK and jewelers polishing wheels and wire wheeling some very fine wire indeed it loves to stick in your shirt and poke you the rest of the day so gonna keep that shirt for more dremeling till I feel I'm wearing a porcupine then bag it for metal recycle ! Lol !!
Total time in this carb is about 25 hours total that includes time at Alan's for parts matching . Man I've been doing this since I was 12 and I just love it !! ..and this is true elation indeed !Here is a little before and after for you please enjoy and have a nice evening!

    Hi Everyone !

Flo has got an iden***y now and it really came along quite naturally as this is a Vintage Hot Rod Parts Find Build and have yet to utilize a catalog .
What a wonderful iden***y indeed even George at Clay Smith Cams was excited when I called yesterday to identify the cam after I went thru a collection of around 30 8BA cams at Alan's . I measured lobes and bases and stick core diameters to give me rounded number facts about each cam . Went thru 8BAs , 1CMs , H&C's , Iskinderian's , and the Clay Smith 282-2 which is the final choice for this street/highway project . Yes I did say street/highway project . I have yet to throw a dial indicator on it but seems to be a lift of .325 like most of the cams Alan had others were perhaps truck cams or worn ones at about .270-.280 . Low mileage ones at .307 a bunch of regrinds at .315 , .325 and .340 a couple at .410 the highest at .440. Alan said that .440 cam came out of a Bonneville only car and I ***ume it wasn't running on pump gas at all so carefully put all the cams back in their nesting shelf and settled on calling George for more history and info and it really touched him when I started telling him what was in front of me and he said , " Your really going to like that cam " , I said , " Ya ? " Then George said , " Ya it's a great cam " , and I can feel the excitement in him he was happy someone had found his cam and wondered about using it and that in itself was the decisionmaker to use this cam for Flo . He talked about how the lobe let's the valve stay full open for a long time and I don't need to have him enhance the exhaust lobes to 294 they did dyno testing and only made a miniscule difference then he added there is a lot of cam there . Next we talked about of it's a regrind I said no it's a billet and its brand new and George said they have not made one in years I asked how long ago he said many years ago . Then George said it's a special cam where did you find it I told him about Alan's we in Gardena George is in Buena Park and the cams going to be used in a 8BA Vintage HotRod build he loved the idea and what a happy guy when we finished the phone call .
We also picked up a Mallory/Pertronix from Ernie in Huntington Beach and a couple more carb kits from Alan and an aluminum timing gear slightly used that also from Alan . Have a grand weekend and keep your foot in it !

    Hi Everyone !

Hope this extended Labor Weekend is safe and enjoyable for most and know that Rex_A_Lott and his family need your understanding encouragement and support with their stolen '55 Chevy 210 hope it returns soon to them so give him a Hollar let him know we care .
Erika at home we got heat here she stay inside so I came to the Freddie & Flo Parlor today and do some more prep on the Flo block clean out the coolant p***ages some more and tumble it on the board on the ground seems you do this multiple times while doing other prep processes to get the block as free of rust as possible . This gotta be the 5th time I've don't it on this block since January and coming along fine the 1/8 " SS rod you see on the block was straight a couple hours ago hours and using 1/4 " rod also and I will repeat this till I quit getting rust clouds or run out of donuts . Ramping up for getting the Edmunds 4 bbl intake manifold from Ed next weekend at Vets Stadium Show/Swap in Long Beach . Why the Edmunds ? Cause it has normal size runners and we are running an average valve lift on this engine project and save the Sharp racing manifold for Freddie when we get back on that project .
Everyone stay safe be careful don't drink and drive or be around swerving cars .

Very nice indeed. Hate to see you kneeling like that, (hate it worse when I have to!)
I have fabricated an engine stand attachment like the old Gennie Ford ones, that attach to the exhaust port bolts on either side of the engine...It's on a 2-3/8" length of tubing, and plugs into a Harbor Freight 4 wheel engine stand.
Lovely, I stand and caress my factory-relieved 59 A block with ease now.
Building flatheads since 1956, I ponder: "Why didn't I do this before???"
Young, in a hurry, daily demand of Porsche customers, hot rods after work, "Just put it on the big table,"
I rolled and stood engines on end, too busy to 'Make a Stand'! Well, now I've got one, so I can dive into my flattie before my B'day.
    Er, uh... My 80th.
    Stay young, and safe

Thank you it's been a lot of joyful work I always look forward to coming here and I do stay off my knees and I believe in being the one to untie my shoes at the end of the day , yes safety is utmost then doing the procedure of the day and I do use use the chair ( in the picture I will post with this ) and I am still s****ping out the coolant p***ages and tumbling the block while standing using a 3' long stainless rods and porting as I'm in the chair is really comfortable and I can actually brace myself better than if I ported using an engine stand but yes my fortune teller ( Erika ) has been taking pride in knowing that soon I am going to have to bust a check for a proper engine stand as I get the engine back after **** at Engine Machine Services is done with the machining and ***embly procedures and yes ! I also have dreamy plans of creating my own engine stand so we will see and thank you for the exhaust mount tip this engine has a flat rear face so it's bell housing bolts on . Then again I may just create the cars frame while the machining is being done if I can get a paying job for all to happen I've just started applying last week as all my judicial record has just been cleared and now I can apply for jobs with real pay ! So I just gotta show up here and keep going and plugging away and the part of the project that takes serious money is around the corner and that's the ch***is build . One thing at a time it's like this -
" Life is going and things are flowing !! "
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY A****ER MIKE !!
