Meanest looking wheel ever ! had mine from Da, 80s . don't know the history though. Have a set 4 , 14 by 7 and two 15 by 7.5 and two 16 by 10 two piece Wheels. Like to learn some history Thanks
Bad ass wheels, they are some of my favorites. Got some on the 51, well newer copies. Of the original.
I bought my first ET-III's used in the early 70's so they could have been made in the late 60's I suppose.
I bought a set of ET's last year. It's still a mom and pop small shop in California. Awesome people to work with! The set I bought I swear was drop kicked off the back of the Fed Ex truck, and Gin worked some magic on her end with unbelievable customer service! Talk them and maybe they can help! http://www.etmags.com/contact_us.html
Nailed31 -- Team III wheels are modern versions of the original E-T made by Wheel Centre Co. E-T has had multiple owners since ex-school teacher and Bonneville record holder Dick Beith started Wheel Centre Co. in 1962. Kelsey-Hayes even owned E-T wheels in the 1980's. I believe what II FUNNY was asking about is the original E-T III from the late 1960'S early 1970'S. Anyhoo I have a 1968 E-T catalog and they list the E-T III but ONLY the 2-piece 16" X 10". I don't have a '69 or newer catalog to pinpoint when the street car wheels came around but I would think the year after they introduced them people would have wanted them in standard sizes. Maybe someone has a '69 or '70 catalog and will chime in. As a side note Dick Beith still owned Wheel Centre Co. in 1968. Sometime after the company that owned the LEE Eliminator brand bought them and then a company named F.D.I. owned them in the '70'S before Kelsey Hayes.
17 (Seventeen) x 10 two piece ET 111 NOT sure what year these were made but TEAM THREE WHEELS told me there were not many pairs issued > HEAVY & EXPENSIVE.
In the catalog picture above, the ET III is cast outside the center but in the picture directly above the ET III is cast between the holes, does anyone know the reason for this?
Here we go, Dick Beith started and owned ET Mags, the corporate entity was Wheel Centre inc.. In 1972 he sold the company to Lee filters, a division of filter dynamics, which later was absorbed by kelsey hayes. By the late 80"s et mags was dead. In the middle 90's Dick restarted ET Wheels to produce the vintage designs. In 1999 The business was transitioned to myself, and I continue to run it today. As a side my father was Dicks industrial arts teacher and mentored him to get a teaching credential to instruct high school shop. The ET III's pictured above. the one with the E-T III cast on the lug pad were direct drilled and mainly used for racing, these were the earlier wheels. The wheel with E-T III cast at the spoke area , were also uni-lug wheels and made later and were for the street. The early design we still have the original tooling and they are made intermittently. scott
I'm assuming that was you that I talked to at the swap by the Alameda Naval Air Museum a couple years ago? There were quite a few sets of nice wheels for sale- hoping you do that again, nice little swap they put on
I have a pair 5 spoke from Scott that where made to my spec's , it was worth the wait & $$$ , & Scott & I had a Lengthy conversation about wheel from Top Fuel wheels ( over 300mph) to what I was going to be abusing them Street & Drag , they probably have over 15,000 miles & many 1/8 mile passes over 100 mph No issues , & his wife kept me in formed threw Order to delivery & a follow up call on delivery, Just make sure you Measure correctly!!!, that's the scary/nervous part.
I just acquired 1 (one) two piece original early ET III 16x10 wheel and would like to find someone that has another single wheel that I could buy to make a pair. Anyone out there ?
