Please tell me there is something to do and some cool people to do it with in this big ass state. Austin is the area we're looking at which i know is home to the Kontinentals and the Lonestar Rounup but thats only once a year. All work and no play makes Johhny a dull boy. Please help me.

there is lake travis and when you get bored you can go to 6th street and get tatted up or hit up some bars.. The continental Club is cool too. or you can just drive through the Kuntry... or go to the Guadalupe River for some river rafting or tubing..

heh. You won't have any idea how much cool shit there is to do here until you move here.
anyone that gets bored in Austin isn't trying very damn hard at all to find something going on.

as far as cool people-nah, just douchebags like me.:D

  4. A guy your age ought to love Austin. It's a college town which may be good or bad. I'd think twice about tattoos, they're permanent.

and? alot of things are permanent...and besides, poor guy will stick out like a sore thumb around here if he DOESN'T have any!:D ( said the tattooed palooka on the other side of the keyboard...)

  6. No offence, I have 'em too. The guy's only 20, and tats can close some doors, just something not to be taken lightly.

The wife and I are thinking about the same move. We were out there a couple of weeks ago... Cool town. South Austin is really nice... and the Continental Club kicks ass!

  9. Just one year to go, but watch for the cops, they can spoil your whole week-end! Big 10-4 on the fine women, and I had a blast at the bike rally there a few years ago...If you check it out, make shure to camp out, titties, naked burnouts, and general madness till dawn, and the cops didn't fuck with anyone inside the gates.

Or you can move to College Station...Woman here are great and the area is fantastic...You'll also have the city along with the Country in one pot. Austin is a Great place to be but the traffic is bad news. Anyway welcome to Texas if you do come this way. I'll be coming home from IRAQ in a month or two, so maybe I'll see you at the wed Hot Rod meeting they have at the Krogers Parking lot.

  12. Is anyone going to mention the music scene? Great clubs of all sizes except huge and named after a stupid phone company. South Austin Speed Shop is
always building something interesting, too. And if the heat starts getting to ya, Barton Springs is a great place to cool down. I think you'll find it ridiculously liveable. We certainly do.

Well heres my point of view. Ive been doin this for years, already have plenty of tats, no problems there. What worries me is that im used to a full work week and then a kick ass car show with my lady every weekend. No beautiful girls needed I have one but its always nice to window shop. Up here on the east coast theres always a show or something exciting within driving distance. Not only that but if all else fails theres always the bar with my club. Ive never done a move like this ever and with only me and my girl to lean on i think it might be a little rough. It would be a little relieving to know that the stuff im used to on the east coast is also possible there. Clubs, friends and shows. Thanks guys.

  17. Well, since I happen to be from Bryan/College Station, I will be a little biased about this subject and say that with you being a youngun, you would absolutely love living there. The girls that go to Texas A&M are the bomb! I've spent many drunk nights back in my college days there in GOOD company. But, I will say that Austin is the town to be in if I had the choice. There is anything and everything in that town to do. You won't regret it.

Billy Mo' Door....Austin Rules. I know a ton of people that have done the same thing. Great town...Rough when it is just you two but there are enough car guys out there and stuff to poke around that you should have a good time no matter if you stay or not. It is definitely a trip and a chance worht taking. You are young....Go do something stupid and stop hanging out at the NJ turnpike rest areas looking for tranny hookers. - Larry

Dude - Austin ROCKS. If you get bored down there, you got issues. Gorgeous college babes to oogle, fantastic highways in the Hill Country, 6th Street is party central. Kontinentals, Round-Up, San Antonio is just south, WurstFest in October, R.O.T. biker Rally in June. If ya ain't into bikes, it's a great time to leave town, see sites.
I'm in Dallas, and get to Austin a couple times a year. I transplanted 26 years ago, and love it.
Come on down and enjoy our summers - HEHEHEHE.
    Later.

Great Town!!! If you like music it is probably one of the best and most versatile music areas I have ever seen. The car scene and bike scene is excellent. I say jump in with both feet!

There isn't a car show every weekend. There are plenty of bands to see and clubs the go to. There are a ton of car guys down here, but it's not like we all get together every weekend. In fact, I don't know most of the HAMBers from Austin.

Not trying to be negative. I don't see myself ever living anywhere else. But I don't want you to move down here on false pretenses.

I gotta second that. Trying to get anything together here is impossible. If you like Budlight, the Thunderbolts are ALWAYS doing something. HA HA

Get packing! your young and there is nothing better than getting a fresh start and a different perspective on things and if you dont like it you can always go home!
I am sure you will find plenty of clubs and car related things to do.
I made a major move in my mid 20'S best thing I ever did!
Hell I'd move there but I havent found a job in Austin .....Yet!

i joked a while back, but...we may need a STICKY for this very topic: "Thinking of moving to Austin!".

re: your post - totally possible here, man. you won't have any issues...socially. its expensive as shit and jobs are tough, though (everyone has an advanced degree and is in IT). personally, i'm drawn to the surrounding cities lately (buda, lockhart, drippin', etc.) and i'm from austin. small-town feel, no yuppie-hippies in lofts and you can bang on your car all nite and drink beers with your buddies. haven't found/heard of a neighborhood in town where that shit flies. then, jump in the car and its a quick trip into town for a show or whatever.

get your ass down before everyone else does. we'll keep an eye out for ya!
