Finishing my dash and column rewire. Using a top street performance wh1220 universal harness. The harness instructions are calling for a purple wire labeled "ign sw start". This wire is not on my harness. My question is. Does this wire run from ignition swith to the solenoid on the starter and energized when key is turned? I have attached a pic of the back of the ignition switch. The four wires connected are: Red = ign sw pwr Pink = ign switch coil Orange = ign switch acc Brown = ign switch ign Stumped for sure. Can someone help?
Does the car have a different type of start switch? like a push ****on on the dash, or the Buick style gizmo on the carb? Having the start built into the ignition switch is a mid 50s and later thing, mostly.
Agree with Squirrel, schematic is correct. If they shorted you that wire get some purple 12 gauge and don't forget to put a neutral switch in that circuit if an automatic.
Thanks for the info. Regarding the neutral safety switch. I know its a combo switch for both back up lights and neutral safety. There are four terminals. Which two are for what? Picture attached.
