Hey guys, I've been on the hunt for a set of 60 Buick Headlight bezels for my 60 Pontiac. I've was able to get what the seller listed as a right side bezel p/n 1192684. Tonight I found another one listed as a Right side part with the same p/n. My question is, is there actually a difference between the parts? Anybody have some "left" and "right" ones they could compare?

  2. If the headlight bezels were the same, they wouldn't be labelled R S. or L S.

Hopefully there's no difference between Canadian and American Buick parts -- there is with other GM body parts. An American 59 Chevy is different from a Canadian 59 in a whole bunch of ways. This could be the case. Get a picture with the bezel laying on top of a tape measure and get the physical dimensions.

If they are going onto a Pontiac, why would it matter? If it looks good; run them anyway.

  5. If the 'shape' of the bezel is the same on both sides, I'd suspect that the difference is in the location of the mounting screws/studs.

Just looked at a pair I've got hanging in the garage, they are NOT the same. Definitely a right and a left. I'll try to post a couple of pics if I can.

So i compared the two "right" bezels after the new one came in, no discernable difference, @Crazy Steve I think you might be on to something. But considering these are only the bezels and not the entire ***embly I can't be sure and unless I can find some of the ***emblies it looks like it shouldn't matter much because I'll have to do so cutting and welding anyways!

@williebones are you sure those are 60 Buick? They look considerably different from mine

Here they are side by side and back to back. Did some measurements from all sides and they seem symmetrical. The top mounting holes even match the Pontiac buckets...the bottoms, not so much. Plus theses are spaced about an extra half inch or so apart so if I can't find OG Buick buckets there's probably going to be some cutting involved...

this crash parts book excerpt shows they're the same part on both sides. "headlamp door" is what they called it in the body parts business back then.

You wouldn't happen to know if they list a part number for the buckets somewhere in that manual?

it's just a pic I found on the internet, googling the part number you gave, and the word buick

But just now I looked in my Hollanders, it has a similar picture and parts list, but not as complete...it lists the bezels, but not the headlamp doors. (the bezel is the small chrome ring inside the housing). Does not list any of the headlight bucket parts at all.

No problem, while I was hunting a full front end parts list I was able to find a guy with a parts car that still had both full headlight ***emblies
