Hello, One thing we always did to our school papers and Pee Chee notebooks was to draw scallops and flames, as well as we could. In the corners and around the notebook holes, we also tried to do our version of pinstriping. Starting out with a diamond shape around a hole. But, in between the lectures and evil eye stares of the teachers, we had to rush our designs without making much noise or commotion. The scallops did not look bad, but the flames needed work and the pinstriping was just scribbles that missed the point. It was hard to keep a smooth curving swoop on a page, outlining a paragraph or some artwork. We always pretended the school paper page was a door, trunk lid or dashboard. Even after we bought an official pinstriping brush, later on, the curved lines looked funny and the straight lines were not straight, but wobbly lines from point A to point B. Jnaki Many years late and much admiration for the “real” artists in the flame, scallop, and pinstriping business, we gave our pinstriping brushes a well-deserved rest. The artwork from other professional artists was to be admired and appreciated. This old GMC Suburban was one of the interesting designs. It is modified to the point away from just being stock. But the ‘Flat Black’ or “Ice Black Paint” (or for the diehards out there, black primer paint) needed some pizazz. So, a multiple color pinstriping design highlighted several areas for some great looking accents.
