My dad gave me an old binks gun and can anyone tell me what size tip I can use for big flake. I got roth metal flake but I dont know what size tip to use. I may not even be able to get a tip that big for that gun. Let me know what you guys use instead. Thanks for any help.
What model is it? If it is a #7 or #62 and has a #66 fluid nozzle it should work fine. The fluid nozzle should have the number stamped in it , the 66 nozzle was pretty common on Binks siphon guns. Throw a couple of steel balls or something in the cup and shake it once in a while to keep the flake from settling. Binks used to make a cup with an air powered agitator in it, I still see them at swap meets now and then...
it's better you use the gravity feed type sprayers thay way you don't have to worry about the flake staying at the bottom, I used 30 dollar swap special with a 2.2 tip no problems.
We always just used the biggist head we could find in ancient times - - a siphen gun will work but put a couple of ball bearings in it and keep swerling em around to keep the stuff from turning into a lump in the bottom of the gun... The new gravity guns work fine - - but once again - keep swerling it around so it doesn't settle in the gun... Fred ... paintin' flake since 61<g> http://bikesters.com
the local guy who sells the roth flake also sells a flake specific gun... not really like a spray gun at all... almost like a sandblaster type of thing only with a gl*** jar for the flake. I know nothing about flake... that's just what I've seen at the paint store. AB paint supply in fremont california... prolly in the phone book.
