My tail light cracked in half. It's a Dennis Carpenter lens withe blue dot already installed. I don't think they are made anymore. So now I need to figure out how to dill a hole in a gl*** lens. I have a set on order. I have the original set that came with the car but I don't want to drill on them. My bezel also cracked. Any suggestions on drilling holes in gl*** would be greatly appreciated. I read through some older posts so I have an idea of what needs to be done, just looking for any more info. Thanks for taking the time and happy 4th of July. Attached Thumbnails
https://www.vintageford.com/sect_search.cfm?Line=1949-51&Category=Tail Lamp claim to have stock, could be worth a call. It must be possible, listing here: https://www.taillightking.com/39-51Mercury.htm says: "lenses, Mercury, Fits LH. or RH, Gl*** lens With Gl*** blue Dot, New Reproduction - very nice may have small flaws from making them into blue dots. this is hand done and custom fit into the lens. (can make on order)"
I used a cheap sand blaster to do mine. Duct tape the lens, cut proper size hole in tape, then use the blaster to cut hole in gl***.
Right on. I saw the taillight king but I figured I may find a pair and learn something new. Thanks guys!
