"Way back story" Neighborhood 4th of July, block party for 1976*, was at the Williams( Bob's),as they had a really big padio and BBQ pit. Nearly every one came, all us and our Mom's n Dad's. I made a foodstore run for more things, with my old Merc. Stationwagon, faded in need of paint, but other wise far. So it was then parked in the back driveway. Late in the day, some of the Dad's with too much beer, dared each other"Who could blow a beer can the highest up in the sky? My Dad had what he thought was a good idea. Too get extra hight with his Beer can/M80,he put it on the roof of my Wagon! BOOM,the Beer can didn't go very far up,but my old Wagons roof { it had factory roof channels formed into roof }=The big bang,,blow a hole in my roof by split the channel open/and blow the headliner down as well. Some how Dad an his buddys thought that was funny. I did not. Dad loved telling the story for years, how he blow up my Wagon on the 4th of July!! Dad passed in 1985,an I miss hearing that story over n over. Happy 4th of July ,kind of fun too pass it on.
Yes, where is the white? ( It might be connecting the red and blue flames... get it, blue flame?) Hello, With the heat coming to attack all of us in the USA, (85-95 in coastal So Cal) it brings into play, the final approach to Bonneville Salt Flats. At first, I wanted to draw something different and red. With white and blue mixed in somehow. So, the little red Studebaker Nomad Sedan Delivery was drawn with some details. Then, as long as I was getting a little carried away with a build, I added Gull wing doors for easier access to the driver’s seating. A set of full wheel skirts added to the already streamlined stock body. Now, where is that push car? Jnaki The older brother with the similar style Studebaker Nomad Station Wagon comes to the rescue. With full A/C to cool down the heat inside and out, the sleek Studebaker gets the record setting sedan delivery back to the cooling tent shade. Why is it centered on a big open White blank space? Bonneville is a large area of miles of open space of "WHITE..." So, it makes up the last of the trilogy of Red, White and Blue for the 4th of July... When I was a kid growing up in the San Joaquin Valley, in California. The Joie Chitwood thrill show, came to the Merced Fairgrounds, back in the 60's. It was a lot of fun to watch those cars doing their tricks and jumps. You all have a great safe and semi sane 4th of July. Thanks from Dennis.
The day for the USA to calm the fuck down and think about our blessing living here and try to get along with each other a little better.
“shades of future past…” Hello, When the Queen Mary rolled into the Long Beach Harbor many years ago, it was a major event for the calm waters behind the long breakwater. “On October 31, 1967, the Queen Mary departed on her final cruise, arriving in Long Beach, California on December 9, 1967. She has called So Cal home ever since.” A $3.5 million dollar entertainment icon of sorts… Nice day trip location as it draws tons of folks near the calm waters of the harbor. It certainly brings back old memories from those old photo shoot days on a selected sunny day during the week when things were not as crowded or hectic. The sound of a Hilborn injected SBC motor rumbling along the sides of the empty parking lot gave a nice place to take some quality photographs. Yes, it was tempting for the owner to do a full blast run on the empty weekday photo day. That would have been something! Jnaki The arrival created some excellent photo backdrops of all kinds. Calm blue waters, city building outline backdrops, overly large historic ship and a current nice harbor slip area for sailboats + power cruisers. The color(s) would still fit into the aspect of Red, White and Blue… (34 Ford coupe and the cool red bell bottom pants…) YRMV
from what I'm hearing is the Queen Mary is imploding and some the engine are underwater. Some of decks are in sad states of repair. It's an icon of Long Beach and CA. And still used as an Entertainment space and hotel. But good times come to and end.
