As much as your roadster has the “goodies” in place, it does make one shake their heads as to how to disguise that big blob sticking out of the hood sides. We all like Hemi motors for their big horsepower, and huge valve covers being different than all of the rest. But, if there was a way to move the motor back a little, then it might be possible to not have a bulge in the hood. As if it was an afterthought.

When most people look at Hemi motors, in a “no hood” side photo or in person, they are impressed as to how that huge motor fit. So, there is that. It might be better to ask, “Can I move it back, but not lose too much interior space, just so I can put on a smooth side hood with or without louvers?”

It is your roadster and your final choice as to what it looks like. But, if there is a way, a smooth hood and side panels makes the roadster a lot sleeker without any odd shapes sticking out.

Altered Coupes/Sedans had the privilege of having a 25% set back allowance, so big Hemi motors fit inside of nice looking hoods and paint jobs.

Even Model A Sedans, Coupes and Roadsters with some set backs allowed for smooth hoods and side panels. A 25% is not feasible, but any amount of set back for clearance will make the flow smoother. YRMV

I wouldn't change a thing. Let people know there's a Hemi in there. Otherwise they'll think it's a great looking deuce with an SBC. Show off that muscle unless you're building a sleeper. I'd just roll a bead around the opening and let it all hang out. On the practical side it should help keep under hood temps down. There's a lotta Hemi stuffed in that little engine compartment.
Just my opinion. Judging from the stuff I've seen you turn out, whatever you do is gonna be bitchin'.
Linda Vaughn didn't try to hide her "bumps" and look how that turned out.
