These will most likely end up on an Olds 303.

I bought a pair of the V8 screen 2x4 air cleaners from Speedway thinking that perhaps Spotlight had inked a deal for Speedway to sell their stuff. I guess not. They were below average quality, much like the generic Chinese 2bbl air cleaners that you see at the cheap shiny parts space at every swap meet. For the first time ever, I contacted Speedway and returned them. I’ll buy them from Spotlight when I can.
Out of curiosity, who sells the Cobra style air cleaners?

Do you know who is making the repop Mopar air cleaners? I do like the '58 style. I like the early Vette ones too but they seem like they would be restrictive.

I have that pic saved on my computer also. I don't know whose it is but I'm 99% sure I downloaded it from the hamb.

Yep; winner for sure. Probably my all-time favorite DQ air cleaner. And considering I have several hundred pix stored of intakes/carbs/air cleaners I think that's saying something.

I'm thinking that there are more man-hours in that thing than some folks spend building an entire engine.

    Hello,

Since the dual quads we installed on my friend’s 57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop 283 motor came from a Corvette, the air cleaners had louvers on the side. It looked great, but the hissing noise came out when stomping on the throttle. Much like when we all took off our air cleaners and revved up our motors. It was also the sound of most of the hot rods and cruisers when up 8000 feet in the local San Bernardino Mountains during Christmas vacation. The thin air played tricks on everyone, unless a carb adjustment was made.

But, on street corners in Big Bear City sounded like a bunch of hissing snakes, without the air cleaners.
    upload_2022-7-21_4-0-36.png a similar look
So, the louvered ones we tried first made a similar sound. Then, we looked for other ones. Another friend had a chrome top plate, bottom plate unit with a criss-cross filter screen and filter inside. His 265 SBC did not sound “hissy” when he idled or accelerated. So, we were on the hunt for a matching dual carb set up.

The filter must have been enough of a sound deadener and the air flow was still good. So, my friend was a happy camper with this set up. The cost was minimal and looked good along with finned Corvette valve covers.
