Howdy All, I am looking to see if anyone has any experience or opinions on the 6=8 intake and header set ups. I have been looking at purchasing one and installing it on the 215 ci on my 52' Mainline. Has anyone run one of these? I was thinking about installing the two, two barrel set up with the car header. From some research I have done, I believe intakes and headers are the same for the 215 and 223 straight six. Thanks for the input.
I started using Clifford Products in the mid 70’s and still do. Not familiar with their Ford products but what bought has always worked and fit. If this will be on the street make sure you heat the intake for better drivability.
Double-check the headers … I recall looking at them a while back and they do not work in the car, only the truck due to clearance issues. you are correct that 215 & 223 parts are the same. Very few differences. If you ever need a 215 block or head, drop me a line.
Unless you have done a fair amount of internal mods this would probably be a better choice https://cliffordperformance.net/store/ols/products/68f223-car-combination You should also hang out here for more info. https://fordsix.com/forums/vintage-ford-sixes.18/ Years ago Mallory made a distributor for the 215/223 good luck finding one though, your stock Load-O-Matic distributor will hold you back, you might try here to get yours modified https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/conversations/add? to=GMC+BUBBA They usually have a backlog so it may take a while to get one done.
I looked at that intake set up. I contacted the people there and they said I could order the "truck" set up and in the notes notify them that this is for a car and they will send me the car header with the two, two barrel intake and carbs. Essentially the motor is stock with about 30,000 miles on it. for the ignition, I was looking to see if petronix makes a module and pickup conversion. This fall/winter I plan on rewiring the car for 12 volts, upgrading the intake and exhaust, and installing a complete Jamco suspension ball joint eliminator kit, with lowering kit for the rear. Plus, I need to send out the driveshaft and have it balanced as I have one hell of a vibration through the driveline at 55 mph. I will look at the info on the distributor, thanks for the help all.
This is why you do not want a Load-O-Matic distributor https://fordsix.com/ci/Loadomatic.h...butor uses the ",venturi vacuum (sensing rpm).

Is this what you are looking at for suspension ? https://www.performanceonline.com/1949-56-ford-shoebox-custom-victoria-car/
Not sure if it has been mentioned, any suggestions on a distributor swap or aftermarket one that will work?
Just looked at the next post, thanks for the info on the 240 to 300 dizzy, something to give some thought to.
Same thing for the most part from what I can tell. Here is exactly what I was looking at. https://www.jamcosuspension.com/product/1949-53-ford-deluxe-ultra-cruise-kit-w-tubular-arms-duc0002
The loadmatic distributor needs a compatible carburetor to work properly. Changing carbs MAY cause a problem getting the proper advancing. A centrifugal ignition would be a nice upgrade when modifications are made to the intake system.
Be very careful ordering from Jamco, you may not always get all the parts that you ordered, they were removed from the Alliance Vendors list several years ago. https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/cypress/profile/new-auto-parts/jamco-parts-inc-1126-172013853 We have had several members that never did get what they paid for and back orders never were filled. Converting to ball joints may not get you what you want anyway,1952-56 Fords use the same springs and shocks if your 1952-53 Ford's king pins are in good shape and kept lubricated you probably would not notice any difference. Over the years I have owned four 1953's and three 1954's and noticed no difference in ride quality. Doing the Aerostar spring conversion and matching shocks and a beefier sway bar might be more practical and a lot less expensive. https://www.performanceonline.com/1949-53-Ford-Car-Sway-Bar-Kit-High-Performance-Front/
These will take some of slop out of the rear https://www.performanceonline.com/1949-53-Ford-Car-Rear-Leaf-Spring-bushing-kit-Polyurethane/
Regarding your vibration, I would first replace the U-joints and the tail shaft housing bushing. If it's a stock drive shaft, unless damaged, I doubt that it's the source of the vibration.
The 300 distributor swap is pretty straightforward. Go to the Ford 6 forum. Bill Ambler is the guy to contact. He recurves the dizzy to your engine specs. I've done it once and am getting ready to do it again on the 223 in my F100. If you want pm me and I can send you the link to the 6 forum and Bill's contact info
All, Thanks for all the information. So far you have given me a lot to think about. JeffB2, thank you for the info on Jamco. Might have saved me from a big mistake. Currently, the plan is to perform the Aerostar spring swap, front disc brake conversion, switch over to the 300 ci distributor and oil pump (Still doing some research on that), if the distributor works out, switch over to a dual two barrel set up with a split header., and check the vibration issue when at highway speeds. Looks like this will be a busy fall and winter. May have more questions, and thanks for all of your ***istance. It is greatly appreciated.
