Gotta give ol Barry Lobeck some love again!
His first deuce roadster, this car provided plenty of inspiration for the build of my roadster.

    1940 Pat Flahtery

edit: the race car driver Pat Flahtery was born in 1926. Thus he would have been 14 years old in 1940. The person in this photo is obviously older. This may be his dad or one of his relatives. Karl

The traditional high boy apparently was developed by 1940. This is an amazing example. 16" wheels, chopped windshield, filled grille shell, headlight mounts, filled door handles, and rear hood latch mounted to the frame. I bet it has juice brakes too.

I'm amazed the police haven't kicked all these street rods pictures off but I still like them.

Or Bill Burnam (R.I.P.), author, hotrod and all around good guy stated the following, a hotrod has a flathead under the hood and a tool box in the trunk, a street rod has a small block under the hood and a can of wax in the trunk. So I guess it all depends who you ask.;)

  9. I hate it when ''photo threads'' turn into discussions and pissing contests, it gets them shut down and there are no winners! JW
    And a photo.

John, thanks for asking and your nice comments but.............
Sorry, I'm guilt ridden, this thing has been a pile of parts and wall hangers for longer than I care to admit to.

The good news is my roadster is kept in good company with two other long term projects.
How does that saying go "life got in the way"!

@x77matt Wow. I love it. I noticed you went with an unsplit front wishbone on this roadster too. Very nice. Are you using a stock k member or did you make a special mount for the wishbone.

Byron Crump of Flower Mound designed and owned this car. It was built by Steve Donnell. Byron sold it a few years after he built it. I believe the car went to California to someone who was going to hang it from the rafters. ByronCrump.jpg

Unidentified '32 roadster. At the Mansfield Louisiana drag strip. 1955. Photo by Bill Collins. I find the use of Thickstun head covers to be interesting. Mansfield was nearest to Shreveport, La in north western Louisiana. Rodders from Dallas attended the drags. DeuceRoadsterThickstun.jpg

my friend Ed Wards 32 roadster, no history is known pre 1958 when he bought it, was bought from Pabst motors.

i am now the caretaker of it.

Thank you! Stock k member and un split wishbone. I did cut the top of the k member to package the jeep t5 though. Mike Bailey’s roadster has an uncut k member with 57 Cadillac and 39 box and works well:
