What does BenD and other charge for hauling a car ( 1940 Ford ) ... I have a friend who needs about a 700 mile trip ... upper eastern state ( jersey ) to the mid west ... 1 way ...

Open trailer ... not enclosed ... and the 40 rolls easily but will not run ...

He about died when a fellow gave him a quote ...

    ??

  2. Between 6-800 is probably about right. Going one way back empty costs more.

I have a guy that hauled a '28 PU from San Fran to FL for me - rolled, steered, no brakes, outdoor carrier - $1k. This was just a couple months ago during the $3 diesel time...haha

I'll dig up his info - PM me if you want...That will remind me if this falls off the front page....I tend to forget about these things.

Buck a mile is the old stand by, unless you find someone already taking that route. $700 sounds right, what was the heart-attack-inducing quote?

I hauled a 1960 f100 from south carolina to the Hamb drags(1050mi) the kid gave me $80. He said that it would almost buy a tank of diesel???

Non runner, open trailer should be .75-.95 a loaded mile. A real road devil with insurance that does it for a living should be close to $1.00 a loaded mile. As fuel goes down that may change by a few cents a mile.

It is cheaper to use the brokered big rigs, but it may be many weeks before the car gets there. From all have read BenD hauls cheaper than anyone. I think I would eat rat poison before I would do it for a living, and I towed my own junk 150kmiles+ in the last 10years.

I talked to BenD a few days ago. He told me he was booked for a while. Not sure how soon you want it. I****ume soon. Giant Auto Transport gave me the best price and actually seemed to be concerned about having my business. They are charging me $595 from Cleveland, OK to Phoenix, AZ. Good luck.

Just had my 52 Lincoln, non runner, but a roller hauled from Philly to Los Angeles. $1500.00 bucks. Took over 2 months before someone picked it up off the boards, but we did start with a $1000.00 bid. Try Frank at Express Auto in New York. If you can't find his number, PM me and I'll dig it up.:)

WE BOTH know that guy is a crook ...
And have had that discussion ... in person ...
    :)

The guy was quoted $1000 for the 700 miles. I know rollback trucks go for $1.75 a mile ... My friend needs it moved ... before the divorce papers are served ... he is leaving his wife ... after he caught her doing the " Monica " on his dope smoking cousin ..

He asked me to help ... and I would but ... I have a Doctors appointment this Tuesday ... that I absolutely cannot miss ... and he needs the car gone before Wednesday or Thursday.

I guess he will just have to pay the grand ...

I would think for a single haul trailer would be between $1.00 to $1.25 a mile, you get it much quicker.
On a big truck with a 8 to 10 car anywhere from .45 on up, but could take awhile getting it.
Depending on the type of truck the cost of fuel per mile is .33 to as much as .60 cents per mile.
When I parked my truck in April it was running me about .43 cents a mile just for fuel.

if time is an issue why not stick it in a storage building while setting up transport?

there are several guys around that do it on the level BenD does and most seem to get pretty close to $1.00 per mile. i know a guy whos real good and reasonable only problem is he does LA to ATL and then up to NY WEEKLY or real close to it.he is $1000 coast to coast no broker.

one guy to try would be Stoller Transport out of the Asheville area. i don't have a # handy but they have a website. $1000 from NM to NC for me last nov.

i know it's a dirty word here but go to www.thesamba.com and go to the classifieds and then to services and there are a few guys in the south that haul on there to. mostly vw's but i'm sure money is money nowadays...ken....

She came home last night and told him she WAS LEAVING HIM ... packed some stuff and left with his cousin.

    He is moving the 40 today to a secure place and " SOLD the car " ;) ;) to a friend ... ( on paper ) ...

This bimbo is leaving to be with a guy out of jail on bail ... awaiting trial for robbery and other offenses. He just got out a few months ago after serving a 5 year sentence ... He is looking at 10 years or more this time ...

Thanks for all the good advice and help ...
He is a good guy ... he has owned this 40 since high school ... ( 30 + years ) but this woman has just messed him up ... BIG TIME ...

But "she" understands him.......nobody can see the real value in this person like "she can"......He is right ..just living in a wrong world.....sounds like these pieces of***** are made for each other...tell your buddy, I said good luck...

  20. Maybe she can pitch a tent in the parking lot at Southern Correctional and wait to get screwed during one of those conjugal visitations.

Meanwhile your buddy is being screwed 24/7  .

The cousin is a piece of work. He is looking at Federal time ...
My friends wife came from a good family and was a good wife for about 10 years. Then she started hanging around with a different party crowd. Went downhill after that. Been to Rehab once for drugs ( cost my friend about 25 grand ) ... Just about broke my friend financially $$$ with her drugs, drinking and gambling. Infidelity was the last straw ... :(

I suspect that the running around has been going on for awhile ... he put a detective on her and had the photo proof in 3 days ...

He is better off but still heart broken... he believed in " Til death do us part " ...
