I have a steel 32 3 window that someone back in the day filled the cowl. United Pacific sells a weld in vent ***embly for a 1932 closed car but says it doesn’t fit on a 3 window…. Is there really a difference? Any help would be appreciated.

I get my vent repair parts from Brookville Roadster. Have done several vent replacements using their parts. They make a 3 window body so they should have the repair parts you need.

If you are only using maybe an inch outside the trough it shouldn’t matter. If you need more, the shape will be different as you get close to the windshield.

I would say the cowl vent “door” itself along with its mechanism will be the same but the contour of the surrounding sheet metal will be different. The 3W and 5W will share the same forward edge of the cowl where the firewall and hood fit but the area toward the windshield has different shapes.
If you are only using a cowl vent door you should be fine.
