As far as I know it is compatible with a 235: (see https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1041888) and https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=11785 If you were to put it on a 261, then you would have to drill "steam holes in the head." I had an 848 head on my 1957 235 truck engine. Later I used it on a 261 engine. I drilled out the steam holes in the 848 using the 261 head gasket as a guide. Worked great. don
