    The above photo is of a ‘49-‘51 Merc pp that was posted by @Sum54ford . Yours has 12 springs compared to 9 in the Merc, so I’d say no.

    Check the mounting bolt pattern of the pressure plate. A 50 Merc has bolt pattern of 6 evenly spaces bolt hole on 11 5/8 inch pattern (measure like you would a wheel bolt pattern). Several manufacturers used that same style of pressure plate, with the same bolt pattern, Mopar, Buick, etc. With the 12 springs in it, it may be for a larger truck or heavy duty application. It looks a lot like a 50's Dodge truck clutch hat. But is a dead ringer for a Ram Clutches Part Number 423 pressure plate. If it will bolt to a small block Chevy flywheel, it is the same pattern as a merc as well. That's why we use merc pressure plates to adapt small Chevy's to early for transmissions.

    @Nailhead Jason
    Thanks. That’s what I need it for, SBC to early Ford trans in my 40. 12 spring may be too heavy.

    According to Ft. Wayne, it’s a 54-56 Mercury. Mystery solved.
    Guess it’s time to get out my wallet.

    Can't you just remove every third spring?

    Call Wilcap. He has merc pressure plates in stock for around 225. Very nice quality,I’ve bought several over the years.

    12 spring may not clear the trans. You’d have to put it together to see. I used a merc pressure plate and a 10.5 inch disk for a 46 to 48 truck in my 39.

    WILCAP is out of stock, so I called Ft. Wayne Clutch and ordered the correct 49-50 Mercury 10”, nine spring, Borg and Beck pressure plate and a 10”disc with 1-3/8x10 spline.
    That took a considerable chunk of play money, let me tell you! Plus no core, so that was an additional $90 core charge! Once and done, I hope.
    I’ll post a pic with the CORRECT part number when it arrives.
    Remain calm and carry on.

    Here’s the real deal.
    Borg and Beck Model 1310, 9 spring, 10” diameter. Disc is 10”, 1-3/8 x 10 splined hub.
    Expensive but the only game in town at the moment.
