Using firewall as a press base.

  2. I had a mystery leak on a BBC in my stock car and got black flagged at a couple of races for putting water down on the track. It took a while but of course it was behind the flywheel. Pulled it apart and I could see a trail of water running down the back of the block. Outwardly, the plug looked fine and it was the OG steel one. I replaced it with a brass one.

Even tho I’m a fix it right and can’t imagine why something this new has a leak to begin with, a weeper with the GM tablets might be a good idea. It was made for head bolts that go into the water jackets and is/was the standard dealership repair.
I’m concerned with a K-Seal/Aluma-Seal like products on what happens to to the rest of it. If it can’t settle out of solution that’s good but it’s an unknown to me.
I put Permatex #2 on all new expansion discs and never had a leak. When rebuilding a few engines I’ve found old ones in the water jackets..always pi..ed me off.

pepper.png Don't laugh......I've seen it work..........and it's cheap too!(Of course.....replace the leaking plug is the final fix but....if the pecker works wait until cold weather to replace plug!)

Unless you have an special block, small block fords dont have freeze plugs under the bell housing like chevys do. Only place to leak on the back are the ones in the back of the heads or as another suggested the intake is weeping. Also could be coming from below the heads and running along the pan or top of block then collecting on the lowest point such as the bell housing. But seems like you may have figured it out.

Half a pack of shredded cigarettes will usually work, short term.

Is that a chrome plated intake or polished ? Chrome is not a friend when dealing with leaks of any type . Intake bolts on SBF will leak also . But seems as you have cured the issue . Good luck and be safe , the fun factor is near the top at the moment .

If you had a good Y-block you probably wouldn't have that issue.
