I'm getting ready to start a 27 roadster build and am wanting to run big/littles. What is the common tire and wheel size? Do you guys run a 15" rear with 14" front wheel? Pics if you have them please.

What era of are you looking to target for looks?

1940 can look substantially different from 1950, and 1950 can look different from 1960.

I would stick to 15" wheels. Do you want bias ply or radials?

Depending on the era, region, and the build budget of the era/builder, they could have been 16-inch wheels, and even Wide-5 wheels.

It all was done, and there is plenty of proof of that.

On my 29 Roadster I have 16x5.00 Firestone in front and 16x7.50 Firestone in the back. They are bias ply.[IMG]

8.90-16 rear. I think 5.50-16 front, but I cannot seem to find my other pictures of this car.

As said, the era of hot rod style you are trying to build will dictate what looks right. Nothing worse than mixing your metaphors.

Don't put 1948 steelies on a roadster with a SBC. But don't put Keystone Kl***ics on a roadster with a flathead.

And don't put low profile radials on any roadster. Save those for a Camaro.

165/80 (25.4" high) and 235/75 (28.9"), but the rears will be a long way outside the body.

If this is the car you will be swapping wheels and tires on, you may indeed have an axle issue.

When you have a free moment, take a picture from the same position, with the left rear wheel removed, and then another showing the gap between the body and brake ***embly.

Camaro covers a whole lot of years, and a whole lot of widths in a 10-bolt axle.

Depending on the year of the donor, that could be somewhere between a tick over 60-inches wide, all the way to just over 65-inches.

In any case, for a Model T, a typical well-fit axle width is about 58-inches.

7.50-16 rear tires, go with 6.00-16 on the front unless you're running fenders, then go with a 5.50-16 on the front.

I wouldn't get 14's, it's getting hard to find tires in that size.
I run 5.60x15 up front and L78x15 on rear

It always looks best, that, if possible, to use tires with the same or similar tread pattern (and/or the same profile whether taller or shorter).

My take on what I would have built in the early 60s. 8.20 and 5.60 on 15 bias ply. DSCN1335 (5).JPG But I probably would have had painted wheels with screwed on Moon discs.

This 27 on 32 rails has 16” stock Ford rims and Excelsior tires. 750 (31+”) on the rear and 500 (25”) on the front. Made by Coker but bought thru Summit, no shipping. Rear is lower than normal and has a QC. Sorry no side view and it’s in San Diego. D25C781F-B955-4C1D-8AEC-F46CD34EC12E.jpeg

I'd take a look at 16"s. 14"s and 15"s are getting harder to find. If you run radials, you may have a hard time finding tires that aren't already over a year old in the 14" and 15" size.
