I like the days when they just deleted the offensive posts, not the whole thread, then notified the person that it had been removed. Not that any explanation is necessary. I've said it before, Mods gotta do what mods gotta do.

The rules are simple, this is getting so ridiculous, follow the F'ing rules. If you don't know what they are, f'ing READ them... I know that's a novel approach these days...

So, as I previously posted, I have been battling the Covid, still, I wanted to contribute since I missed last week due to deadlines at work.

on this sketch, I worked from the back to the front with the graphite. You can tell my mind was fading as I got close to finishing. I shoulda just posted the initial blue pencil slop, Ha ha.

The other thread was started with a car with modern billet wheels... I deleted it

Well the original thread got deleted for a billet wheel infringement, I made an inquiry about it, and got a response from the Moderator, so I decided to start a new thread, so that we all can still contribute to this great Friday tradition. Just a heads up to all that regularly contribute to the FAS, really take a good look at the wheels of what ever you decide to post here first.
    Thanks from Dennis.

It was the first post in the thread. When the first post is deleted it automatically deletes the entire thread

    Hello,

In looking back at historic coupes and sedans, one stood out as a clear black and white photo. The chopped sedan just looked like it was wanting some competition at any dragstrip.
    upload_2022-7-29_16-51-27.png
“Rear view of the Ewans and Ramey '34 sedan, at Fontana. The car was built for the salt, but later got a set of bike wheels and slicks to run at the drags. It was immaculate, painted a bright bronze color, with a blown Chrysler. Unfortunately it suffered a stuck throttle on the fire-up road and drove into a phone pole, destroying it. I watched it happen, and then just left, sick that such a nice car was destroyed (driver was ok).” thanks @296ardun
    upload_2022-7-29_16-52-11.png

But, the more I looked at the overall design and color, the photo still looked great, but the color just looked not good at all.

So, another color choice was tried.
    upload_2022-7-29_16-52-52.png
With the highlight pinstriping, now, it was getting somewhere…

The custom car/street hot rod color was applied and it looked like it should have been cruising around in Bixby Knolls drive-in restaurant circuit in the 1960-63 time period.(A few miles away from Lion's Dragstrip)
    upload_2022-7-29_16-53-35.png

Finally, there was one color left to try, the original, no color, black primer paint with black pinstriping.
upload_2022-7-29_16-54-40.png ahhh... like the Three Bears saga... this one is just right...

Or… could I have seen it in the garage section of the back alley in Long Beach, (near Lion's Dragstrip) and our Westside house location?

Again! Going through old Street Rodder issues and found a full color Dave Bell in one of the Showcases. For those that don't know his Henry Hi-Rise was usually found in the back but only in B&W! They were usually the carsof the issue, but with some light hearted jabs about the owners and/or staff members. IMG_3531.jpg IMG_3541.jpg IMG_3540.jpg The little Rod and Custom creations were my idea of appropriate bookmarks and found in a Jan. '95 issue of Street Rodder, I had completely forgotten about them. Enjoy, Carp.

The FAS will now start on Friday Morning East Coast time… every Friday.
I will inquire to see if permission is granted to pin at that time.
On Monday morning it will be un pinned and slide away… not deleted but closed.

ANY off topic, non HAMB material will be turfed.Period.
Any art( of any kind… not giving credit to the creator) will be turfed as well.

    Pretty simple.

    Thanks.

  18. Hell Jeff. There goes my aussie hole- shot early posting advantage. Ha.. tears of a rogue..

OK .. re-post this unique unknown home-made ten-dollar model kit score. A neat tribute to 1950 Doug Whiteford Australian grand prix winner 'Black Bess'. Car won 80 odd races from 90-odd starts. Doug raced for over 40 years.
Also showing 2014 painting I did on-site of the actual car.. a '34 with '40 merc mill.. (900x600mm acrylic on canvas)

Not quite accurate, but captures the spirit admirably, and the nose is spot-on (important)

Is THIS what we have regressed to???

    ART WITH CENSORSHIP???

THAT leaves bad taste in my mouth:mad:

I can tolerate censorship of socially unacceptable "art" images on the HAMB (boobs, swastikas etc) but whacking one of @57 Corvette ~ Bob 's beautifully rendered images for a minor "wheel infraction" is a little too much (an image so vile, it probably had kids, parents and clergy screaming in disgust).

Moderators seem toact as though they are doing us a favor by "permitting" us post our art here on the HAMB...when in fact, it's US, sharing our art with the masses, that are doing the HAMB a favor...and Jeff @Jeff Norwell , you should know this better than anyone;)

    Rant over:eek:

I can't believe that the members here need to be CONSTANTLY reminded of the focus of this board. we will not host images of cars with modern billet wheels.. period. I am personally getting really tired of being called out for trying to keep this place on topic. The hamb is not for everyone, if billet wheeled cars are what you are after, perhaps you need to find another place to hang out....

Thanks for speaking your mind, Jack.

I could see Mr. Moriarity's point if artists were popsting full on side images
that included Boyd's, Billet Specialties, Weld, Centerline or Bogart Wheels,
but that's simply not the case. Images like Bob's that show a sliver of an
"offending" item don't really deserve the proverbial axe. I certainly don't
believe that you fellows are trying to push the limits.

To make it fair across the board do we start dropping a dime on every
so-called offending image we come across? I don't want to do that. I know
the answer. If your image is the least bit questionable simply don't post it,
go back to the drawing board. Still, this is art, supposedly, and censoring a
hot rod pic that will be forgotten in a few days just seems petty.

Jack as a Hamber to a Hamber, this place has always removed content...it is a nessessary evil to maintain a theme...Bob's been around long enough and had things questioned on occasion that he should make the effort to mellow the Streetrod out of an image...he's more than digitally capable.

I hope he's back perhaps taking a little more time to buff up the one removed...we are well aware the flashy mags of today are not really following a vintage theme let alone the beefy radials that are attached to them...

Funny, I liked his post with some hesitancy as that image felt out of place here...I know it when I see it...

Unfortunately removing content is a necessary evil here and someone always steps up to the plate to ride the slippery slope of either knowingly or unknowingly...IF my work is removed you could be well assured it would be me making the effort to right the wrong and not to expect those with the platform to conform to my post 65 non inspired content.

The Carshow Threads are a real headache for the Mods and allowing these modern details really skews the lines and confuses members of the theme...here we go back in time...I get plenty of the OT fix every car show I go to...

I don't need to see it here...those that post it must understand they are crossing the line and not only stand out, but open a door for scrutiny...if Bob was unaware of this he certainly is now...

I too appreciate Bob's work but am again of the opinion we must mod our own submissions...

Remember minor infractions send wrong messages...even here in an Art Show.

    Respectfully,
    Stogy
