god dammit tuck, good work going on over there...the headlights look good, and those dump tubes look killer...it's a sweet looking project, glad to see it got a good home...
Hey Tuck, have you done anything on the 34 in a while? When you first started I was watching everyday to see how its changed. Haven't seen any updates and I'm itchin for some progress pics!
yeah, and what about that super secret weapon you hinted at? any luck with that yet? I'm making decent progress on my secret weapon, you're gonna like it...
I'll post some pics. I just got swamped with customer work and theres one thing thats bugging me with this build that may make me rework some stuff... call me crazy but this is whats bugging the **** out of me... I plan on getting a real 34 frame and starting over after I'm done with the roadster... so this build is just temporary but I wana drive it and have fun with it... When I first started building I didnt have the rad and grill. now everything the way it sits just fits perfect... except the motor should be set back (2) inchs so the hood and hood sides would fit perfect. its an 8ba block in here and everything seems bigger. The engine is right against the firewall... IF I were to set the motor back- I would need to set the frame back up to alter it... the frame horns would need to come down where I spliced it- so I would have to pie cut the area that welded and lower the rail about an inch and a half- this would clear the way for the radiator to move back- because right now they would sit flush against the crossmember if I were to move that back. then I would have to trim the firewall to setback the engine the 2" needed- then I would need to shorten the driveshaft- again... and a few other things would need to be altered. Its just a stupid thing thats bugging me. I just want the hood and hood sides to fit. I'm so down with the hood... I can run it without a hood- but its just one of those things. I need to figure out what I'm gonna do quick and do it. Right now the way it sits I can drop it into gear and drive it... I plan on doing a smokey burn out U-Tube style... So thats where I sit. I think I've been sitting here on the fence a couple weeks too long... I figure it out and post a update this week- Tuck
haha. I need someone to tell me something... but dont tell me to sell ****er hahaha I will keep this car till I die- heres a pic with portowalls on the slicks. I think I like them better as blackwall slicks.- SEE I'm ****ed.
With the new frame are you going to a buggy spring in the rear? BTW I like the wide whites...even on the slicks. DeuceDog
Yeah, there was a lot of that stuff I wanted to do to my car when it first hit the road too (firewall, trans tunnel, seats, new cam, tires, and on and on) - but I decided to drive it for a year and work on that stuff later. And my list continues... and I continue to drive it. You suddenly don't have enough winter up there that you can't just leave the damn thing alone and drive it for a month or two? Talked to you when you first got it and you wanted a HOT ROD to drive. Outsider looking in it looks like you're just making it into another project? Tell you what - I'll trade you and finish it as I drive.
god damn it haha... OK OK... **** the HOOD. Kevin your right. BTW, there is no such thing as a driver... they're all projects. I just dont need one this DEEP right now. TO BE CONTINUED... Burnout coming soon. Tuck PS on a related note I did end up scoring the right LUCAS lights for my roadster- BobK knows how much these cost huh?... heres a pic-
I won't be at the Pileup this year, yet again...I'm staying home to ****** up all the good deals at the Roadsters swap meet Sunday morning...****ahs... I really don't care for the Port-o-walls on the slicks...you should paint those slicks pink instead...hot pink...and if anyone gives you **** about it just point them over my way and say "tell him you don't like my tires"...I pity the fool who don't like pink tires...hahaha
Hey Tuck, I feel your pain man. If I were in your shoes, I would continue as you have with the quick plan for driving it. If this is a KEEPER, then just start looking for a gennie frame, or get some rails and build your own. By the time you have the new frame done, think of all the good times you could have in it as is. I had a few catastrophic incidents on the build of my coupe. It got so bad that I even bought a complete Superbell front end out of a '40 that was getting a Heidts. In the end I decided to press ahead with what was already done. The car has been to Texas and back. I wouldn't trade that for anything. But if I were a betting man, I would bet that when Kevin and I blow it apart for paint in a couple years, it will have a completely reworked frame.
You've got the vision Tuck... keep the hood... do it right. I'll be up there with a camera to film the burnout in a 1/2 hour. Ben
Tuck , Keep up the work on this one - it will sure be a righteous ride when done ! Keep those wrenches flying ! 41 Dave
I've been enjoying this thread(s) alot. It's a wee high in the rear but I still like it. Nice to see a 33-34 that is not incredibly boring. Are those international buckets?
