Not my car but maybe someone in the Social Group would be interested, Looks decent and has a 5.0 Ford motor. https://reno.craigslist.org/cto/d/reno-1954-ford-skyliner/7516184301.html
Skyliners are sweatboxes, even with the optional snap-in shade. That said, $7500 seems to be a very reasonable price, depending on inspection and test drive.
Alan is a very knowledgeable expert and a past tech moderator of the '54 Ford Club of America, that said the gl*** tops generally bring a bigger price. HRP
I do not believe that the snap in shade was optional as it was not listed as an option in the 1954 Accessory Manual. Also, I have seen many, many Skyliners over the years, most of which are missing their original sun shade and carrying case (my car has both) but every Skyliner I have seen had the snaps on the interior mouldings for the shade.
My understanding that the shade was not available in 54, but was in 55 and later because of complaints
Paul.....Your "understanding" is incorrect. Unfortunately, you guys seem to need proof that EVERY '54 Skyliner came equipped from the factory with a snap in sunshade, so here is the proof. Attached are pics of the cover of the '54 Ford Owner's Manual along with a pic of page 25 of the Manual which describes the Skyliner model. As I stated in my post earlier today, EVERY '54 Skyliner came equipped with the shade and I have the original one which came with my car.
That seems very reasonably priced..an inexpensive way to enter into this hobby, for someone. I'm glad it's not for sale local to me, I'd probably buy it.
