special shoutout to my friend Bill Carder & son Jon. have over 350,000 mi on their 39 Pontiac. left Omaha, NE for good-guys in Des Moines, IA. then drove on to good-guys in Columbus, OH. back to Omaha for laundry & re-supply, then went to good-guys Puyallup, WA where they won the Long Distance Award. then down to SoCal to visit relatives & back to Omaha via RT 66. BAD NEWS IN RIVERSIDE, CA. blew the filler neck right out of the radiator. turned out be a serious engine problem so they hired a shipper to take the rod back to Omaha, they're following in a rental car.
You drive them gong enough and far enough eventually something is going to break, seeing the last photo you can tell your pal is experiencing something he hasn't in the past. The guy is a road dog and has the miles to prove it, he will get the car repaired (and do a bug removal) and get the Pontiac back on the road for new adventures. HRP
By the look of those bugs he wasn't toddling along in the slow lane. Stuff happens if you drive them far enough and hard enough. Having been to the Goodguys in Puyallup a few times along with Spokane there is an amazing number of guys who hit several events with them around the country. Not always the trophey hunters with the crewed transporter and setup crew either, just guys who go from show to show over the season.
