A little cleanup and paint it should look good.
I may need to drill some holes and dimple them for countersunk screws. 41EBA52A-8CD7-40FC-9EB7-026F0AC69FC0.jpeg

I had been thinking that I should put some foam rubber on the cap so it wouldn’t be a skull cracker, and it could somehow be a sunshade over the gauges.
But I think this will look good. So maybe no dorky foam rubber. I’ll just wear the seatbelts. …..Which were lost in the fire. Shit.
They were really cool, old military belts I found on ePay. Irreplaceable.
I finally found more pics of the interior!

So its been a while, and I've had a few changes in my life. Ive had some health issues, and I lost my shop inspector, Corey. He had Mast cell cancer, and he took 2 surgeries and a series of injections like a champ.

I love this photo. He's kind of pissed at me for not sitting on the couch with him.

Ive missed him terribly, and my wife found a pup from a breeder not too far from us.

We ended up with a pair of pups, brothers, who we have named Finnegan and Fergus.
I tried to name them Finnegan and Frei, as in Freiburger, but someone Im married to liked the name Fergus better. Sorry, Dave.

Anyway, let me show you what the new shop foremen have approved.

I was concerned about the placement of the shifter, so I put the seat in and checked the fit.

Would of been way more cool with the flathead instead just a regular Windsor. But good work none the less.

I’d have done another flathead in a second but couldnt find a good one for a decent price.
And, the vision at this point is a late sixties sort of build.
The 289 may actually be a place holder. The T-10 is a dual pattern version, so I can(kinda) easily do a big block or a Cleveland later.

  13. Sorry you lost your garage buddy. It's damned hard to have to let them go, but harder to see them suffer. I went through that 2 1/2 months ago with my big fluffy black cat who thought he was a dog..... I still expect to see him in his usual places. My condolences. Hopefully your new pups will help relieve the pain.

I have been busy with a new job, and I now have some new parts to progress my project.
I put new roller bearing spindle kits in my spindles, decided to use bolt on steering arms. I hated to do it, but the arms won't fit with the dropped axle, so I had to slice the arms off.

but the bolt-on steering arms and the mounting brackets for the brakes want to live in the same space on the spindles.

So I modified the mounting bracket to fit on the 2 top holes instead of the 2 front holes. tempImageSBBUEh.png

Welcome back man, good to see you're still at it, and it's easier to find parts for a 289 than it is for an 8BA :D

I’ve discovered that 1st gen Mustang stuff works well on Model As. I like the look of roadster headers, but repop Shelby Tri-y headers work good. I have a usable 1940 steering box, but I’m gonna look into a mustang box. Let me see if I can post a photo without the photo turning sideways. 2AA1B3A5-0BEF-4702-BDB9-FB38BAC2E522.jpeg

I resealed the engine and dressed her up a little. I found some old CalCustom/ Mr Gasket valve covers, and decided to do the Tri-Y headers with the high temp coating. A little shiny for my liking, but it’s growing on me.

Here’s a couple of photos of the shop bosses. They just turned a year old last weekend! I can hardly believe it. They’re best buds but live to wrestle and fight. I wish I had that much energy.

AAAAFC41-747A-40C8-A648-3964015DE57F.jpeg And here is the shop they’re bosses of. Amazon calls it a carport, but if any local officials ask, it’s a tent. Under 400 bucks, and pretty well built. It’s survived 2 pretty bad windstorms. The frame is heavy tubing and I’ve lag screwed it to the asphalt in the back yard. I have the model A pieces and my big bench and a tool cart inside.

0AEF2694-E6E0-473F-A146-A65CBF29D806.jpeg I thought you might want to see what I’ve been up to lately. Weather hasn’t been too good for working outside, but I’ve managed to fine tune my brackets for the brake calipers. I milled a pocket out so it doesn’t hit the top of the spindle, and trimmed a few spots where it was close to the rotor.
