A basket case quick change came with my Lakes Modified project car. 12bolt 301 shifter model center section. No tubes, carrier, or axles.
This is my first experience with a quick change and I’m finding zero info on the shifter specific 301.
    Where can I source parts?
And what the heck does this shifter mechanism accomplish?
    Thanks

Does the “slider” simply disengage the axle? Maybe to push them around pits?
    Any idea on sourcing parts?

The slider disconnects the lower shaft to give the car a Neutral. Sprint cars are direct drive with no clutch or flywheel. You need a way to get the car in and out of gear. Before the shifter quick changes we ran in and out boxes.

If you don't need this feature just make something to lock it in gear.

A friend had one in his deuce roadster a few years ago. He hooked up a cable to it and ran the cable under the edge of the seat. He claimed it was his anti theft device. The lever was almost out of sight and when he parked the car, he would pull the lever to disconnect the quick change, then set the parking brake. He figured that if somebody stole it, even if they got it running they would be discouraged because the area would move under it's own power because the quick change was inop. He never had anyone try it, but it was a clever idea.

There’s a solid lower shaft, so I’m guessing a previous owner already removed this feature…
    That simplifies some things.
    Now……. Where do I find a carrier and axles/tubes?

The guys above got it right. The shifter is either engaged or not. As you said, the one piece lower shaft has done away with that feature.
Those side plates will not support axle tubes. you have to replace them with plates that adapt that center to early Ford V8 trumpets or bells that accept 3" tubes.

The plates are available as repops in aluminum. (Message me)

The original Halibrands were available in both aluminum and magnesium. Since your center is mag you may want to find mag plates. (I don't have any right now)

12 bolt bells are pretty rare. Frankland and Jones made them at some point but they are not a direct bolt up deal. CAE and Benson had them also. Since they share the same 4 3/8" wide center as the Halibrand, they will require less fiddling.

All adapter plate equipped QC's will require modified differentials. The best units for this are Tru Trac styles. Look for Gold Track, Diamond Track and Winter's Track.

There are few old style Detroit lockers that can be cut down, but they are a ton of work.
