Had a new FH motor built and a new 2 carb intake hardlined with pump, gauge and PCV. The intake uses 2 new 97's and a new Drake fuel pump. When the machine shop ran the engine on the test stand to break it in and tune it the fuel pump showed 2.5 lbs of pressure at idle. and 6 lbs at 2000 rpm. Pump should maintain a constant 2-3 lbs regardless of rpm. It's a new Drake pump. Intake builder says I need to change the spring under the diaphragm. There no way because of how the plumbing is done to run a regulator after the pump. Where do I find the appropriate springs and gasket set? First time I've tried a manual pump on my Flatheads.
You can contact Charlie Schwendler on the Ford Barn. He rebuilds fuel pumps and has the components you want.
Charlie received my pump on Friday, did the needed repairs over the weekend and sent it back today. Great service form a great guy.
Charlie was always helpful with my Ford and Mercury fuel issues as well as prompt and courteous with me.
I've had three pumps done by Charlie. One was an early OHV Caddy high flow converted to flathead. All three produce 2.5-2.75 lbs no matter the RPM. Another vote for Charlie.
My pump was a new Bob Drake Flathead pump that had been run about an hour. It needed a complete rebuild. Charlie said it was an accident waiting to happen. Should be fine now.
Charlie has been on Ford Barn forever. Never heard a bad thing about his work. What is going on there?
If any of you are okay with this: Quote: Let's square things away.....whether rural or urban in New York State all property tax rates are high, cops are ham strung because of 'progressive' woke law makers who gain office by pandering to where the voting 'blacks’' are. These same 'blocks' have invaded the sticks where I live. Friends have moved to Tenn. to get away...only to find the "blacks' steadily moving in there as well. Charlie ny Well… I guess I invite you to leave the forum as well. I will not allow, host, or even recognize racists on my sites. Period. Defending or accepting it is as bad as saying it. Disgraceful. __________________ Ryan Cochran* - www.AtomicIndustry.com
That puts a different slant on it. Sorry @Ryan , - nobody should have to deal with that type of thing.
