Whenever you can bump into this stuff it strikes a note...vintage tin surviving the modern ravages always brings on a vibe like no other...rodded/customized or not...rare birds even add to the wow factor many times...love the vintage graphics... I shared a pic of a 39 Chev Tudor painted up with a forested scene done around the early 40's...Hand done graphics like the car ads were huge as there was no vinyl and computers...they were really good at it too... found it...No wood but lots of trees... Speaking of Woodies, I remember reading here that Henry had purchased forests to supply wood for the lines...that was a pretty cool fact...I suppose some of those forests still exist here and there with some Historical Plaques...

Last Saturday we had "Woodies in the Cove" in York Maine. There were 39 woodies, which is quite large for an east coast show. Several cars were original car's including a very nice '34 Ford woodie. Best of all, Mother Nature cooperated and gave us great weather!
According to my Ford book, the woody wagon was the most expensive model most years. That probably added to it's rarity. They were either the same price as or more expensive than a convertible.
I think that would have to sit a loooong time covered for the metal to look so attacked but the wood to survive. Are the rear windows clear vinyl or something? Don’t look flat. Amazing. Thanks for the picture
Very cool car. It does look like some wood parts may have been replaced (the panels on the drivers door, the dogleg on the p***enger door) but for it to have survived at all with most of the original wood is amazing.
Dan, you are correct. I have the original Dealers Invoice for my 1946 Ford Woodie. The base price listed was $1093.66. The oil bath air cleaner option was $4.21. The oil filter was $5.12, wheel rings, $6.19 and the electric clock was $3.35. 15 gallons of gas and 13 pints of oil was $4.06. With tax and other cost's the grand total was $1248.55. I'm not sure how much the other models were, but the Station Wagon was up there.
Wood is good. I like the smell of varnish because my Dad had wooden boats and my Grandfather had a woody he kept varnished. Unfortunately my woody is not preserved with varnish, maybe someday that will change,
