Hi, I am to the point that I need the door channel kits for my doors I have them on back order through Early Ford v-8 sales for going on two months. I see there is ads on ebay for kits and my question is what did others do about their doors? Thank you Dave.
I had no trouble finding them for mine. I guess you are referring to the "fuzzy" channels that the gl*** rides in. I think that most old cars/trucks of this era used the same ones, the ones I got for my truck look just like the ones I bought for a coupe. I would get the ones you found if it were me instead of waiting for a back order.
is your rig chopped ? if so almost any vintage era fuzzy channels will work... i have a half dozen new ones in a tube in the garage...model A... i will measure mine if needed...
I forgot, when I built my first chopped deuce pu I used an 8 foot stick of stainless edged bendable fuzzy channel, bent it to fit and slipped it in from the top, added a little silicone to the top when I put the caps on. I also glued 1/2 channel to the inner and outer horizontal edges to keep the gl*** from rattling. Worked fine.
I would do like Krylon just said. Try a local gl*** shop for the fuzzy channels. Measure your channel width and gl*** thickness before you go.
Thank you all for replying. The cab is not chopped. I found a company on the computer called Midwest early ford that lists all the parts I will need also the seal and mount on the bottom of the door or door frame. I have a stock model A but never been around this model of truck so I'm learning as I go.
I have bought a bunch of stuff from Midwest. My door parts may have even been from them. They ship fast and the least expensive way. I like them. Even bought stuff at a big swap meet from them.
56 don I called up Midwest and they had everything I needed seemed like a nice guy to deal with. Said he would get the parts out today for me I will use them again I called the place I had placed the original order with, and they had nothing for me yet, so I canceled my order with them.
